Props to you for shining a spotlight on this gem. I feel like So Very Wrong About Games made a massive service to the boardgaming community by championing Hansa Teutonica enough that it got traction with the wider scene of prominent reviewers, now including SUSD. I've played this game with at least 20 people in different settings by now, and so far I've not met a single person who disliked the experience.

Been listing to So Very Wrong About Games for years now. It’s nice to see them gaining traction and appreciated by others. I also first heard about Hansa Teutonica from them and and it fell flat the first time my group played it. So so pleased you’ve covered this, triply so that you love it as much as I do! When I was first introduced to it a friend described it as “quintessentially euro” which I think is apt and also a huge complement. I played Hansa for the first time in years last week. To me it's a game where doing well feels really annoying. Focusing on creating a massive network nets you a ton of points at the end of the game and makes the game end faster (more prestige), but doing so instead of upgrading also means you won't have much cubes to use.
