Nothing wrong with teaching the youth how to work. I started driving a John Deere M many years ago when I was 9 . That's quite a bit of snow.😊

He’s taken an interest in tractors so I’m just going to feed it and let him run with it. I like him being outside doing this stuff and getting away from electronics. A JD M is one I don’t have in my collection. Maybe someday! I’m sure those are good memories.

Thanks Greg. He's taken interest in tractors so I'll just keep including him as much as he wants! I added these lights to the tractor and LOVE them. Nothing wrong with getting the kids out learning how to operate equipment...just gives them an understanding of it, and great experience they can put to use as an adult. Put the loader in float when pushing snow so the blade don't dig in, it'll follow the contours of the ground instead of trying to dig in.

I agree. I think it's good to get him out and operating equipment. He's been operating the tractors all summer doing other chores. This was a totally different experience for him. I liked doing these things as a kid and it got me hooked then.

I like the snow so it’s fine with me! 😁 Yes, there were quite a few deer! 🦌 We hired them for the video. 🤣 It probably would have been ideal to let him learn on a normal snow first, but this is what we got! Maybe look at adding some sprung weight to regain steering authority. Really helps plant the front tires. I have an X739 with a custom-made bracket that slides into the front hitch mount. I hang 4 suitcase weights on it. Works good for snow blower and blade.

I’ve thought about doing that and may someday. Because I use this tractor mostly for snow removal, I thought about switching to the HDAP tires from the X700 series too. The R4s are not great for snow, but this thing still manages to do pretty well with them.

Yeah agreed. In this instance, it was very wet and heavy so it would just push the tractor to the side when angled.

This is the standard John Deere Front Quick Hitch with 54 Blade. Between the loader, snowblower, and power broom, the blade is the fastest to use 90% of the time.
