Hanukkah, the Messianic Shepherd, and John 10

In John 10:22-30, in the context of Hanukkah, Jesus describes what kind of shepherd he is. By comparing the origin of Hanukkah with the situation of Israel in the 1st century, and by drawing upon the shepherd imagery of Ezekiel 34, we'll better understand the conversation Jesus has with the Jews in the temple regarding what kind of Son of David he is.
