3 guys in their late 50s, having played over 3 hours of some of the most complex rock music youll see and hear and then still pull this out the hat. One of the few live performances better than this is Xanadu from the Exit...Stage Left tour in 1981. Without a shadow of a doubt the best live performance of any song, by any band, ever. The greatest band of all time.

You have some of the names wrong. Alex Lifeson Guitarist Geddy Lee Vocals, Bass and Keyboards Neil Peart Drums, Percussion, Lyrist Rush's first drummer was John Rutsy. He appeared on their first album which this song is from back in 1974 and is different from this version. John Rutsy left the band due to health problems and Neil Peart joined. This song was written by Alex Lifeson about his father who worked two jobs at a time. I am not sure which other song you reacted to before but La Villa Strangiato official music video is amazing! PURE PERFECTION!! Hands down the most talented band ever. I saw these guys 14 times! Every tour from Grace under Pressure. Saw the 4th from the last RUSH show ever in Seattle. 4 dayslater was the last show RUSH would play in L.A. Everytime I saw them they were better. They fed off each other always challenging each to do better. You don't get any better than this. LA VILLIA STRANGIATO live at the Gorge 2011. Best guitar solo I've ever seen. Was a killer concert. Alex tore it up!

Thanks for doing this. It’s the final song at the end of a 2011 concert. The guys were in their late 50’s here. Cleveland is where they first started to get radio play, in 1974 with the song “Working Man”. Alex started the band in 1968 with John and Jeff. But this lineup, Alex🎸 + Neil🥁 + Geddy 🎸🎹 has been intact since mid 1974. Alex said his 3 main guitar influences in the mid-70s were: Steve Howe from Yes, Steve Hackett from Genesis David Gilmour from Pink Floyd Thanks again.

This song was from their first album with their original drummer and is probably the only song From the first a album that Rush still plays live. So I can totally understand playing the song differently to make it more of a Rush song and not a song from before they were truly Rush.

The drummer was Neil Peart and the bassist/keyboardist is Geddy (Gary) Lee. Alex Lifeson is the guitarist. Not sure who John and Jeff are. Maybe they sweep up after the show. This eliminates the rumour that we Canadians are boring. They also had good senses of humor with the laundry tumbling in the back and crew would come on stage with bunny suits and other nonsense.

GREAT reaction, Sir! Alex (Guitar), Geddy (bass, vocals), and Neil (drums), were RUSH. The John you mentioned was John Rutsey, who was the bands' drummer until replaced by Neil after their 1st album. John Rutsey plays his ass off on the studio version of "Working Man" from that 1st LP. It's a real banger and there is a live performance video from 1974 available on YT. THANKS!☮

Great reaction! Best band ever! Rush can do no wrong in my eyes. Three of the most influential and respected musicians in rock. The Professor passed away last year, leaving an emptiness that just cannot ever be filled. He wrote like 95% of the lyrics and us truly the GOAT. Known for mostly for their complicated pieces, Neil's precision and technicality and motivation to consistently grow is why he sits alone, above all drummers (imho). But I would probably put them all first in their respective classes. Alex usually gets overshadowed just because of the other two. They gave us 45 years of quality music. 19 studio albums and toured almost ever year for the first 25 of their career. They slowed down in the mid 90s due to the Professor going thru the loss of his daughter and then his wife several months later. They always split the money three ways and have always remained friends and it shows onstage. They also always brung their A games when touring. Just shows their fans respect and that means a lot when concerts costs what they do nowadays.
