RUSH - 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. RUSH Performances, Finale and "Backstage"
After recently posting some of my personal videos of RUSH, I decided to post their 2013 Induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters had the honor of inducting RUSH at the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Followed by RUSH's Acceptance Speeches Rush and members of Foo Fighters perform "2112: Overture."
The Legendary Canadian Power Trio then remain on stage alone to perform their massive hits, Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio!
During the finale performance of "Cross Road Blues" RUSH are joined on stage for a super-jam by fellow newly inducted Public Enemy and Heart and additional performers Dave Grohl, Darryl DMC McDaniels, John Fogerty, Tom Morello, Gary Clark Jr. and Chris Cornell.
Stick around to the end for a little backstage BONUS.
Enjoy!
If you enjoy the video, please give it a Like and SUBSCRIBE!
RIP Neil Peart.

Rush is the only band for me that means so much more than just the music on its own. They are/ were so easy to follow. Every year since 1974 they have given us an album ( remember those), no band fights that we heard of, no sign of drug abuse, maybe a little drug use. Each album they grew and it always took two or three listens before you get it. Then try you learn the lyrics, bass part and of course the drums. And no matter what they did you loved them, and you found certain songs you didn't like but you still listen. I love this band, if it matters or not I'm a 65 year old black man who grew up in a hood, thats how universal Rush is. I miss going to see them live. My first show was them opening for Kiss in Atlanta.

That rare smile from Neil @ 25:22 warms my heart. It's been so much loss and heartache in the past 10 years, we lost both drummers who played in these performances, politics and war and disease have destroyed lives and hurt so many people. But yet we have their music to inspire us and bring us joy. Seeing him smile like that makes me so happy. I'm so sad for him that he was cheated of his time with his family after his career. I wish I could have seen Rush live and never will, but am so glad they were able to be honored here. They say you only really die the last time someone speaks your name. None of these people will ever, ever die in my opinion. Thank you for everything.

Jan 7th. 2020. I sat at my desk tears streaming. My beautiful wife of 20 years, walked into my office. I'd been blaring my spotify RUSH channel for about 8-9 hours straight. She saw a news blurb that Neil had passed. The third time I met the band she was with me. No words needed said she knew that that was a regrettable , yet poignant. day for me.. No other band shaped my perception of music, especially my drumming. The fact that it took until 2013 for this to happen is insane. Dave and Taylor were the perfect choices to induct RUSH, both being true drummers and also personal friends of the band. ~R.

RusH was composed of 3 compulsive perfectionist, and genuine good people that do not have any ego trips that have lead to the demise of many successful bands. Truly GREAT musicians that are also truly great friends.... Resulting in some of the cleanest, tightest most amazing music ever made.

What an honour to open for, play into their song, and share a stage with Rush. A long deserved acknowledgement of this incredible band that we proudly call local. I miss these guys. The news of Neil's passing affected me so much that I had to pull over my truck on highway as the announcement came over the radio in Toronto. RIP Professor, and Taylor.

And Geddy fit right in with Public Enemy hippin' 'n hoppin' along, WORD, and he was really enjoying it. I can see a hip hop influence appearing one year here. What a night that must have been, eventually going down to the crossroads in a rock classic performance to be remembered.

The delicious irony of singing "Glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity" to the very institution they were talking about when they wrote this song. I think Alex and Neil shared a smile about the biig F*CK YOU this song was to the hall that shit on them all those years.

"Fan base only rivaled by the Grateful Dead." And in some cases, intertwined with the Dead's fan base. I'm a 57-year-old deadhead who's loved Rush since I first heard "Fly By Night" on the radio when I was all of 9 years old. First concert: 1/26/80 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY -- just a few months after my first Dead show the previous October. Good times both.

A long-overdue accolade for one of the greatest musical ensembles ever. It is awesome to know that the voices of all who love music, art and creativity can still impact "the machine" to some degree. Thank you for inspiring me to improve and grow in my own musical journey. Alex Lifeson's speech will most likely never be forgotten. Not was it hysterical, he kind of thumbed his nose at the whole bombast of the occasion by simply being willing to make fun of himself. Very entertaining.

My favorite band, by far. Probably been to 40 shows since I first saw them in '80. I took a week off work in 2015 to see 5 shows of the R40 tour. Sadly, their last. So much talent concentrated in three musical geniuses. I'm a grown man that cried watching their Hall of Fame induction. As I type this comment, 11 years later, I'm blasting side A of Moving Pictures on my home office stereo.

As time goes on, Rush becomes even a more precious and rare gem. That they lasted that long, still working, still playing and enjoying each others company, was and still is a blessing indeed. Thank you, Canada.

NEIL PEART’S NARRATION ON EXIT STAGE LEFT DVD: There’s a tremendous ambiance about a concert hall…to even before a band starts playing…from the time the doors open..this place feels electric you know! That’s one of the things I like most about the road that feeling of standing in the hall when the doors open feel the excitement bursting into the hall. I must admit I feel very comfortable playing live a lot! The song satisfies and does have a modern day rocker persona about it. A very modern urban setting for that Tom Sawyer mentality and a very carefree stride and a very self-possessed kind of air. Xanadu: The question we tend to ask the most often is WHAT IF? I think of you had to simplify a motivation or simplify a moving force in our music that would probably…suffice! Red Barchetta: Well it seems to me a car is one of those handy metaphors and volumes have been written about the sociological and cultural impact of the car and what it represents but it also has a very fundamental sensual feel and it’s a metaphor for sexuality and freedom. We’ve certainly tried to guide everything by the principles that were interested in and the freedom of choice and the material we’ve been playing and expression of music that we found to be exciting would excite other people as well. If the songwriting is important and playing really well on stage is important it’s gonna make the difference between feeling good or not feeling good when I walk off stage feeling that I played as well as I can or as close to well as I can then I feel very satisfied and good for what you have done.
