Hi Merging. Great to see the Hapi II. Is this now a full 32-bit signal path? I recall the video about the (then) new IO cards talked about how the boards were 32-bit, but not (at that time) the whole signal path. Thanks! (Merci :-)) BTW, I'm thinking specifically about the ADA8S cards... (I know there was a comment about the AKDG8DS/P cards below)

Hello, all new cards such as ADA8S/P are based on a full 32 bit signal path

Is there a chance for an additional, optional ADAT card in the near future?
@MergingTechnologies4 ай бұрын
Hello, do you mean a second ADAT port on the Hapi MkII ? Not really, but as an additional digital i/o you may use the AES/EBU 8 channels i/o. Hope this helps

does the Virtual patch add more AD/DA loops to the path?
@MergingTechnologies2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I am not sure to understand your question, do you mean if by using ANEMAN it would add more streams? If that is your question, no those are the current I/O without any addition

In the Hapi MK2, given a choice, I wish Merging would have further increased the sonic quality of the DAC output stages rather than improving that of the headphone amp, even though that would certainly have resulted in a very big price increase. Trouble is there's only so much space on those cards to implement any circuit improvements.
@MergingTechnologies10 ай бұрын
Hello, the sonic quality is not the same depending which generation of cards you're using and if you're using Premium ones or Standart ones
@greg103010 ай бұрын
@@MergingTechnologies Please clarify: Premium meaning the DA8P that does the DSD that I don't need and the Standard DA8 that only does the 88kHz or 192kHz that I would more likely need?
@MergingTechnologies10 ай бұрын
@@greg1030 Hello, there is a difference in between Premium and Standard cards bit also when they have been manufactured as the design has changes since the first generation of cards more than 10 years ago. You'll find specs of the present cards and the past cards on that page www.merging.com/products/interfaces/option-cards

what is Direct out vs 8 out?
@MergingTechnologies2 жыл бұрын
Direct Out is the Analog signal taken just after the pre-amplification (no latency, no processing), this direct out signal is provided by the AKDG8DS or the AKDG8DP card. The Line Out (8 Out) would be the output of your DAW for example
@atta17983 жыл бұрын
Does the AKDG8D cards supports 32 bits?
@MergingTechnologies3 жыл бұрын
Hello, Yes, both versions AKDG8DS and AKDG8DP (P = Premium= above 192 kHz including DSD 256) are 32 bits. The DG means that they have a Dual Gain topology for the 8 Mic Pre, 2 independent gain control for the same input signal.

@@atta1798 The ADA8 range has 8 analog LINE/MIC input and 8 Line output. e.g. Both in and outputs are visible from the DAW The AKD8D range has 8 analog LINE/MIC input and 8 analog direct out (post pre-amplification) and no line out. Does Hapi work also alone without Anubis? Does the knob on Hapi also handle volume? So for example in an Atmos environment can I control with that knob the volume of all my 12 speakers at once? 00:16:34 Is the Hapi ready for room correction like Anubis? I use Sonarworks in my DAW and it would be glorious to avoid the latency by using the HAPI dsp's like it works with Anubis.
@MergingTechnologies2 жыл бұрын
Hello Marco, thank you for your question. Yes, HAPI can manage the 8DA , 16DA or the headphone output volume. One can choose the behaviour of the know in the settings. For the time being the Sonarworks plugin is only available in Anubis

Yes it works perfectly without option cards. You would have 8 AES/EBU + 8 ADAT and 2 headphone analog outputs at your disposal. At a later stage you may ad I/O optional cards

Being a non-proaudio person, I didn't find this video all that helpful. I feel that the least that Merging and/or its sales reps should have done by now is to create a HAPI FOR AUDIOPHILES video that ignores what for us is so much useless Hapi bloatware and instead streamlines the steps for setting up a 2.x+ stereo/multi-subwoofer system or 5.3 surround system. I don't think that's asking for much in the way of more relevant tutorials considering that more audiophiles are looking to those like Merging for a straight MCH DAC solution, yes?? Two weeks ago I emailed this request to Merging; they replied that my market niche is too small to make any such videos and pointed me to the NADAC for > 3x the price of the Hapi. They also ignored the fact that the Hapi MK2 will soon be reviewed by Stereophile's Kal Rubinson; ample proof that the Hapi has crossed into the consumer marketing zone.
