So growing up in the 90's the Happ sticks is what were know to be in the arcades & they are great! I know alot of people love their Korean & Japanese levers but Happ /IL is forever my favorite and current preference. They are tanks! Back then Happ was merged with IL until the early 2000s I want to say around '05 so when Suzo came along they bought the molds from IL but choose to use PVC vs Nylon in terms of their actuators and pivot internals. I haven't had a chance to own a current gen of the suzo happ competitions but I currently own 2 IL Euro sticks & they are butter smooth. They don't give me any problems and the quality is amazing! I was going to purchase some happ sticks but then I read somewhere about IL and never looked back. For a few dollars more I feel its worth owning it. PVC I can see where some friction issuse may lay since it is rougher and doesn't move as freely but with the nylon there are no problems. If I were to not execute moves it would be human error from the hype of the match lol. I'd say give it a go! Plus what's great about them they are tried & true, not expensive either! No matter which way I would setup a JLF it just didnt feel right to me (not throwing shade before the try hards come on here trying to attack lol) the only thing I would give to the current levers are the octogates but its not necessary IMO. A nice smooth round is perfect.

Yes. 8 ways may lock inputs on certain games when you hit diagonal on a 8 way. In a 4 way joystick built game, the diagonal will confuse a game and it won’t know to go up or left for example. It easier to play with a 4way on 4 way games as well. That’s how they were designed, only 4 directions .

uncledaddy54 you can use the short cylinder it just may sit low. It probably won’t be too bad. Most people bore a square groove in the bottom of their control panel about 1/4 th inches deep and the housing sits in then boring a little. Check your stick too, if it doesn’t have two slots for e rings on the shaft then it only accepts one type of cylinder. I’ll link a video where I did a control panel on my pacman arcade

@therexershow3 жыл бұрын
For 3/4 inch wood, it’s always good to route out some of the wood on the underside of the panel first. There are 2 ways to screw the joystick bases in. 1) drill right through the whole control panel and use Carriage bolts to secure. With this method , you have the top part of the carriage bolt showing on the top of the control panel but usually not a big deal. 2) use “Insert nuts” which get screwed into the bottom of the control panel , then bolts screw in from the bottom into the insert nuts which are in the Control panel already. It’s confusing to describe this method and a little more difficult to do, but you don’t have any bolts showing on the top of your CP.

What screws did you use to mount the happ joystick?
@therexershow4 жыл бұрын
Peter Parker there a couple options on how to mount them into the control panel. The best way is to use inset internal thread nuts. Those inset nuts go into the control panel underneath. (But make sure not to drill through the control panel causing a hole all the way though) you then use shot pan head bolts to into those inset nuts. I use 8/32 inset nut and 1/2 inch pan head bolt with lock washer. This way is all done under the control panel and nothing drilled through the top. This is the hardest method but the cleanest. The second way is to drill holes all the way through the control panel and put carriage bolts though the top. M6 size I believe will fit through the hole and prob 1.5 inches is best, bang the carriage bolt pretty hard into the top of the panel so that square wedge locks in then bolt in from the bottom. Most people use black carriage bolts but they are hard to find so I’ll just spray paint silver ones. The 3 rd way is the just screw from the bottom into the control panel holding in the joystick, I don’t prefer this method but it’s the easiest. You just have to make sure you don’t screw all the way though the top.

juan chan well, IL eurosticks are really good. Very similar to the happ competition. I don’t have many joystick vids but it’s hard to find specific detail that identifies what brand. There are so many “clones” but sometimes there is a brand marking on sticks and buttons. Like sanwa usually had the word sanwa engraved somewhere. But as for Crown or IL sticks or Happ, there’s usually 1 small difference. If Suzo Happ has a minimum order of $50 and they don't include both actuators, then the 4-way actuators should definitely be ordered along with the sticks. Knowing that the part number is in the instructions obviously doesn't help unless we already made the mistake of ordering the sticks without the actuator. There is no comfort in telling us that the item number is in the instructions we would not have yet! Please share the 4-way actuator part number. No one wants to order $50+ of actuators and filler items when they could have just ordered them all together!
