Gotta be that guy, I like the generic concept of capture the flag. It is easily one of my favorite gamemodes in Halo, airsoft, paintball, CoD, and other games. I actually enjoy CTF in PlanetSide when the population is a bit lower, like when I'm playing late at night (which I do a lot because I work night shift). Usually though, CTF bases go undefended in my experience because the map doesn't show much. The hybrid system sounds interesting and I am very interested to see new game modes.

CTF as a concept is great, but they need to make it more in-line with the immersion. The idea of going back and forth to the same spot is kinda silly in the context of a war, so maybe have something where instead of a "flag" it's a datapad or something, and you have to 1.) pick it up, then 2.) take it to different stages to "gather data", and then 3.) get the datapad back to the drop point .... call it a RELAY or something. So it's still basically cap the flag, but more in line with the point-holding pattern Planetside embraces.

Honestly, i think we don't need every map perfectly balanced. Some might be more for infantiry part, others for vehicles or air. But hopefully PS2 will get second wind.

In terms of OW, I and many of my fellow outfit members wont be taking part purely due to the time of year it is being held. Decemeber is a pretty busy time for a lot of people, let alone to get 48 people to commit to playing every possible date. This is echoed by a lot of other outfits members I speak to. Hopefully the changed to CTF will bring some change to the vast majority of peoples views on those fights.

I wish they would update the netcode in the game, too easy to abuse lag. Also same tickrate as server hardware could handle over 10 years ago is weird, tech got better so tickrate should be higher

If they make tickrate a little higher the servers will explode then. It's hard to say how much optimisation this engine can handle. Maybe it reached the full potential, so now we can get only new cosmetics (what makes game heavier and heavier to run). The development team is super incompetent, adding new guns is a serious work for them. So I can't even imagine how they overhaul core gameplay in right direction or fix netcode/engine.

Been playing since 2012, >10k hours $500~ etc etc all that bs. I haven't seriously played in years, the way i play is solo objective play fight to fight, idc about the macro scale win/lose conditions because they have no meaning. I treat the game like a lobby shooter where the lobby wait time is spent valking to fights or moving a bus. I have no idea how many people play like me, but as a customer i feel like they're prioritizing another type of player, e.g. the milsim objective nerds who smash every spawn off-peak, who 48/12 a ctf base and push a single lane to wg a faction. This type of player is antithetical to how i play the game to a severe degree, I'd go so far as to say prioritizing said player type is antithetical to an MMO as it leaves the hungriest-for-shit sitting atop a pile of shit in winnings at the end of the day (a dead game where they outlasted everyone else and win alert after alert, exactly what happens on soltech). I get wanting to add different systems to fill niches and add busywork for players who want casual downtime from the FPS experience but i feel like there were better ideas left to the wayside brought up by the community that don't severely add to the detriment of the fundamental reason most people play a FPS, shooting mans. Anyway the latest roadmap did fuck all for me. I won't reinstall, but i'll keep an eye out. Also wrel smells.

Its kinda why the old base capture system worked in Planetside 1. You had spawn tubes in the basement you had to protect, the backdoor you needed to protect,, the front door then fall back to the control room. On top of that too keep the spawn tubes and wall turrets working you needed to keep the base powered so you had to go collect energy with your arnt or hotdrop a full ant in via galaxy.

In my humble opinion PS2 is the best MMOFPS without any real competition (in my experience).. I think this game should be basing its future plans and progres upon that aspect. And of course there are people who have way more than 2k hours clocked and the devs should definetively have an open ear for the community inputs as well as looking to expand the player base, if they want to populate huge fights as OSHUR and such.

Its like any other MMO that has a little life left on it that's aged. Its a cash cow and the devs don't listen. They create more payable content and drop breadcrumbs of promises and do what they want in the end.

I am just happy there is finally some sign of life from the devs, less happy that a lot of focus seem to yet again be on OW which a few outfits might find fun and interesting, the rest of the server/s barely acknowledge is happening so the positive impact on "the game" seems to be very minimal. Last OW I was playing pretty much every day and only found out that it had just ended by randomly taking a look at the forums. I had seen 0 mention of it in game chat, no one talked about interesting upcoming matches, no one talked about the winner, nothing.

I wonder what the numbers are for outfit wars. I can't imagine there being much more than a 100 people who want it, just the hyper competitive/social players. So much dev time spent when the devs could have used those resources to focus on getting new players and keeping them. Imo they shouldn't focus on competative stuff, lower the headshot multiplier even because of the open world nature of the game, no skill based matchmaking like every other game in existence now. Great to finally see some communication from the devs again though

OW overall has grown on me after I experienced Nexus, it's not bad. It does cause burnout for casual outfits which get stompted and seperately vets which have to play a lot of matches. It probably wasn't worth the oppertunity cost but whatever it's developed now and doesn't take any additional development time.

I do believe console needs cross play at this point but the devs have gone a few years without updating it even not taking the time to update the events into the game or at least bring the cosmetics that you can buy so i think that console ps2 is on life support more so than pc there is only one good server on console that averages 300 to 400 max once a week if your lucky

if not the devs who gonna kill the game , instead of push the stuff community is asking they release unnecessary stuff nobody was asking for .They could easy hold player numbers higher if they would have implemented something like a clash events and the abilitie to have fun with the nexus maps in small scale events. Instead they bring out a fukin useless continent and even more useless naval vehicle wich is basicly a weird version of a sunderer. Instead people gather on jaeger privatly to make their own small events . About implants i dont even start to talk ... Firstly introduced to make the new player experience a bit less frustrating , and now if i look back it actualy made the game worse for new players , since vets where runnning around with meta stuff like carapace or in vehicles counterintelligence wich are hard to get for a normal player.

Cobalt is dead in terms of community, go Miller. Game is fairly balanced; 95% of it comes down to skill. Slight advantage on NC but nothing crazy.

Most of their players should have certed out what they need by the end of the month. Deffo noticeable right now though. Sometimes it's best to switch bases if you see a stacked group of players tbqh.

I notice factions tend to avoid capturing CTF bases as no one really likes to play them in their current state. If a faction can go around a CTF base to gain ground, they will.

The game is being shut down next year. Anyone thinking that any significant work will be done on the game is deluding themselves. DGC remember are owned by a front company for Columbus Nova, who themselves are a front company for Viktor Vekselberg, in order to facilitate money laundering. The game isn't even fit for that anymore, as there are too few microtransactions. The Federal investigation into DGB/Columbus Nova and now the new company (with the same people from Columbus Nova), hasn't gone away.

That's some "moon landing is fake" level of thinking. DGC has only been owned by Epstein since 2020, and none of the major problems or issues are related to him in any way, since they've been in the game for years before DGC was acquired by Epstein's company. The only reason why the game "might" get shutdown is dwindling playerbase, which also has been a problem for years now, but not because of russians or ukrainians, but because devs are blind and deaf to community and ignore any and all requests and advices, and just push their own shit nobody needs or wants.

@@finanzcreeper368 A journalist who's been involved in covering the story about Vekselberg/Columbus Nova, used to be a game journalist and played PS2. He's kept up with things there and has sources apparently. I trust him because his history is spot on. He revealed that Sony would dump SOE, which it did. That Smedley and RadarX would be fired, shortly before they were. That Columbus Nova would try and hide that they owned the game and were a front for Renova. Again they did and they were. And that the 'new' company, is actually just Columbus Nova under a new name. Needless to say, when he pointed this out on the subreddit, the mods panicked and banned him. But I still talk with him now and then and there's lots more to come with the company that's now supposedly running PS2. All the Columbus Nova/Vekselberg stuff checks out too. The Feds have been investigating for several years now and gathering evidence. Those things are public knowledge and can be checked.

Damn dont wanna get my hopes up too high but I think a good buff for sunderers would be giving all types a 250 to 500 hp deploy shield. Would make fights last longer. maybe also make a spawn point for enemy once they get on point.

CTF has always sucked in PS2. They took some of the fun bases to defend and ruined them with CTF. The implementation was/is bad. The bases that people hate to play at and don't want to assault/defend is where this should be put, not the bases that people have fun for a long fight.

What Pay to Win are you referring to? PS2 has probably least p2w of all games ever. 99% of buyable stuff are just skins for things you can just farm, the other 1% are boosts, which are pointless since you get points for basically anything now. Even as f2p I get like 1.5-2k certs every 2 hours or so.

The game is certainly a little bit 'grind to win' because of the implant system, assuming you get the correct implants. It's also a tiny bit p2w with beserker and nanite increase but it's nothing crazy imho.

The game needs to shut down, the games buggy as hell, the servers are buggered. The game devs are basically screwing the community with there terms and conditions when you play the game and invest time and money. The game is that full of bugs and cheaters you either die from a cheater or get banned cause you are bugged from the stupid game.
