Still can't get enough of this movie. Per the airplane/Amy/Alexis scene - the movie keeps returning to showing Alex is not your typical alpha-male big-man-on-campus, that he is really underneath a caring and concerning and very vulnerable person. Here he expresses his interest in seeing photos of Amy's dog, probably because he really is interested in sharing her passion for her dog. (How many people can barely go through a lot of baby pix from their friends, much less pet photos?) I also appreciate at the start of the coffee shop scene, when Miguel calls to Alex, Alex turns to his secret service guy and with a motion, basically tells him to please wait. And yes, I think the creation of the Miguel character to tie all the loose ends together - using him to tell us Alex is okay with a bit of male-to-male "bonding." And at the prime minister's reception, Miguel foreshadows his hacking and leaking of Alex's emails by raising the point of the TX campaign. Which later winds up getting the TX plan into effect. And of course Miguel's releasing the emails comes from simple jealousy and a ruthless desire to get click bait, instead of the complicated side story in the book. Almost all reactors start off by saying this is an enemies-to-lovers story. But that issue gets resolved by the hospital scene, where strawberry Alex sees Henry being a real caring person when talking to the little girl patient. The movie has so much more to cover than just this simple trope.

I thoroughly enjoyed your rewatch reaction of RWRB. Thanks for calling out the Secret Service outside the hotel room knowing it was about to blow up with Zahra.

As for the Maypole Dancing thing... Totally with you. I'm British and totally don't get it. I find it just a little bit sinister due to The Wicker Man and a Doctor Who story. Plus, at best, it's terribly tedious.
