The Cure are releasing their first album for 16 years on November 1st. Definitely need a Smags to that.
@icaroamorasАй бұрын
Absolutely. The first single is already out, and it sounds amazing, kinda like a modern take on Disintegration’s sound. The Cure is my favourite band and Smags reaction to Disintegration has got to be one his best videos yet IMO, and it’s what got me into his channel to begin with.
@CBGB_1977Ай бұрын
I’m SO EXCITED! I ordered all the vinyl variants. A grey marble one from Rough Trade UK, a white one and a 2 lp Half-Speed Master from The Cure. From what I’ve heard so far with the track “Alone”, it sounds very Disintegration era. 🩶🤍🖤

I remember when this came out. Great Britpop album. One of the albums that opened the era of mainstream Britpop. Being a Gen Xer, I recommend "Reading, Writing & Arithmetic" by The Sundays. One of the most beautiful albums from one of the coolest indie bands of the late 80s and early 90s.

I'd also recommend 'The Masterplan' - the collection of B-sides from the WTSMG? and the Definitely Maybe (first album, check it) sessions. All could've made the albums, and several are still played live by Noel (guitarist/vox/songwriter) in his band High Flying Birds. Cast No Shadow is a song written about/dedicated to Richard Ashcroft, vocalist of The Verve - a band you'd really enjoy. The producer of WTSMG? is Owen Morris, who produced The Verve's A Northern Soul, released the same year. Check that out. Or anything by The Verve. They'll send your arse to a different plane of reality.

Been a fan since they debuted in 1994. Saw them live back in the day so I WAS there when we were getting high. And will be again next year for the reunion. Wonderwall doesn’t even make my top 30 Oasis songs. Do their first album Definitely Maybe and check out their B sides album The Masterplan. Honestly for an album that consists of only B sides it’s a masterpiece 🤘🤘🤘

This album changed music forever in England, It pretty much started the Britpop era and inspired kids to pick up the guitar and rock music had a revival. Wonderwall was a complete shift from the vibe of the rest of the songs.. It was like the bands ballard and sounds nothing like the rest of their back catalogue. Your right.. Dont look back in anger is the stand out song on the album but they were all bangers and thats why it's a classic

You should do the other two big britpop albums at least! Parklife by blur and Different Class by Pulp. Parklife is a really diverse album with killer melodies (and ironic lyrics about the state of 90s Brittain) and Different Class is a bit more personal and the lyrics feel more literary in a sense but it´s also really catchy.
