Thank you for the kind review of our little cruiser. Good job! One thing is too mention: The skidplate is not 3D printed. It's machined out of solid POM-C. I think it is more abrasion resistant than a 3D print from PLA or PETG, but definitely a good replacement once the stock skidplate is worn down.

So true, plenty of boards with wheel wells out there work just as well with Paris trucks, wedging, softer good wheels.

Thanks, enjoyed the video and had to sub. My commuting setup is a 1970 fiberglass/wood no flex full rocker deck of 28"x6.5" on Indy 109s with T-hangers and 65mm 81a centerset wheels which comes across as a slightly smaller version of the boards presented here - it's wild to realize there are 50+ years in between these boards.. I love this setup because it's handy and lightweight but still stable and fast as heck and the idea of having something like this in 32.5 is admittedly very tempting. 😅 Greetings from Berlin! 🍻

Nice review! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this interesting deck. I love a good versatile cruiser. I’m sorry you had issues with the fiberglass on your Comet. I haven’t had any issues with mine, and I just think the whole setup works really well together. Something about the rocker and narrow deck of the Comet just feels so dialed in to me. It is a shame the price has creeped up in recent years though. I am intrigued by the urethane rails on the Sticky and see how that could help with board longevity. The wheelbase hole options seem a little odd to only gain two cm in total wheelbase though. One of the things I like about the Comet is it clearly had been purposely tinkered with to produce a very specific and intended character. I haven’t changed anything about my setup since I first got it and at most will only ever swab the bushings and pivot cups for the exact same ones.

@@easternshoreadventures2596 yeah, no hate on the comet, it's just like you say, everything about that design is intentional! a lot of board makers work around the fiberglass, by for example adding a bottom layer, like on the pantheon boards, or a rail like here. It's still a unique and great ride!

Nice review! I like the comet cruiser for maximum cruising comfort as I have different setups for when I am looking to do more downhill sliding. Sticky definitely looks good as well!

Thanks for the video, there isn't much information available from both boards. ❤ I have one more question regarding the weight of the boards. Is there a noticeable difference in weight between the Happy Board and the Comet? I currently ride a Pranayama with Hokus and I love it, but for commuting it is too heavy, now I want something very very light for my shorts commutes.
@skate-horizons2 ай бұрын
@@angeltlazalo6533 it's a Little heavier yes. Not too extreme but noticeable. Still way easier to carry than the prana!

I was thinking about getting a small board that will fit in or on a backpack, something like this might be a good choice. Although I was mostly looking at the Landyacht Dinghy. The main purpose was to hike and skateboard.
@skate-horizons2 ай бұрын
@@Human_Evolution- the dinghy is a super cool board as well. You have to decide if you like flex. It sets the board lower for pushing and absorbs the road a little better but can be a little unpredictable. Both are good!

Even though the Sticky isn't as flexy as the comet, it is still pretty flexible right? Do you think you could upload a short comparing the flex? Like standing on the Sticky the way you were with the Comet?

When are you finally trying a rubber griptape :D, especially for a cruiser that does not need as much grip as a trick popsicle. Just no need to care for the grip gnawing and sanding on your clothes and gear. I think this property gives cruisers a key bonus feature as they are regulary carried around.
@skate-horizons2 ай бұрын
@@joemcguts1962 I actually have a 20m roll of griptape:D I just use that all the time :D But can you recommend a brand ? I also want to try dope grip!
@joemcguts19622 ай бұрын
@@skate-horizons ah I see, that roll 's gotta roll 😅 Sure thing: I think "DKL non rip rubber grip tape" from the US is the best one I know of which is a bit more "macro nubbed" (maybe about Lego brick cell), rather sturdy but with the disadvantage of only having a single size. I think it's 33"x9" and that is a tiny bit too small on the width for my liking of wide Surfskate and comfy cruiser style boards. If it does not fit I use "cream grip" from cream prime (I think it might be Spain based iirc). It is a thinner material and more "micro nubbed" (more like triagonal ribbed). Works pretty well too and it has way more options. Classical Popsicle shape fitting 33x9, cruiser style 33x11 and longboard size around 44x11 inch or so. Also vendors have rolls too, so this might be something for you - I'm sure you manage to get your hands on one if you intend to do so 😉. As the material is thinner though, it can get chafed a bit more easily at spots where a lot of shear forces apply, like the point of your front foot where it pivots between pushing and pumping stance. It will look a little used but will usually hold on and continue to work great. Got it on my smoothstar deck as well and it's just a joy to ride barefoot. At the place I work there is a big foyer in the building with super smooth floor where no one has an issue with me skating and the feeling/feedback/control of the board without shoes is just best in my eyes. For the cream grip you can reach out to Germany based "kara boards" (you might just interview them as well, they are another small customized options board forge and Raul is usually super helpful and quick to respond + they also sell quik truks which I did not find at any other place in EU at the time I last ordered them), they can see you single sheets or Tape available by the meter. Before you import from DKL however, just send me your address and I can send you a sheet if you want to have a look/ review on it.
