Tim Burton specifically wrote this story about his two favorite holidays so it’s a story for both Halloween and Christmas. I watch this every year at some point around either Holiday. On another note, big props to Henry Selick, the director who never gets the credit he deserves. He also directed “Corraline”, which is definitely worth reacting to

Love this movie! I'm one of the weirdos that thinks of this as a Christmas movie. I've always thought that since the story is Jack trying to celebrate Christmas and then ultimately learning the meaning of Christmas, but many disagree.

As an adult, I just love all the nuance that went into this movie. Yeah, the priority was to be fun, but the clever writing and character development between Jack and Salley is incredible.

Fun fact, there's an unused bit in the film, where there was going to be a second bit of narration (like the one in the intro) to cap off the film, revealing the narrator to be none other than Santa Claus himself. It says that Santa went back to visit Jack many years later, who now has 3 children with Sally. He sat down with Jack and asked him, if he knew precisely how wrong his attempt at Christmas would have gone all those years ago, would he had still done it? Jack just smiles and said "Wouldn't you?"

It’s actually a huge argument in the fan base whether this is a Halloween movie, or a Christmas movie (or both). I say it can be whichever you as the viewer want it to be. Both holidays are involved. For myself, since the story is told primarily through the eyes of Jack’s perspective, and the vibe is more goth than Hallmark, it feels more like a Halloween movie, but for anyone who feels otherwise, I’m not going to say they can’t or shouldn’t watch it in December. _”Mid-death crisis”_ - love it!

It's a Thanksgiving film. Because Thanksgiving comes right between Halloween and Christmas. ...Yeah, I've never managed to convince anybody of that. 😂 But it's been my policy since second grade.

I think one of the tie in books revealed Sally’s backstory. From what I heard about it, she’s actually a resident of Dream Town. The doctor found about the rag doll people who live there, and he kidnapped Sally when she was twelve and wiped her memories. He also erased everyone else’s memories of the doors.
