I have a melodeon (unsigned) that looks like this one, but mine is in rosewood. The left pedal works a slim shade near the front of the instrument, just behind the keyboard. The bellows top plate has a heavy cast iron fitting for the right foot treadle. I think it is meant to help return the feeder top faster. I believe I found a similar model also in Gellernans's book "American Reed Organ", and based on teh woodcut, mine could have been made by Carhart & Needham. Interesting!

The Doherty Method Book that came w/ virtually every Doherty Instrument really would've allowed every owner to play some music on the instrument from day 1.

Question: Can a reed organ be played too much? How often should I be playing mine?
@ChuckAndLucy Жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as playing a reed organ too much unless it is damaging to the instrument or your social life... I have the second problem 😅
