In Resident Evil Revelations 2, when you go into the bar after Neil "Draws" the creatures away when your in the bar there's a radio on with a Russian news report I don't know any Russian but you can catch a name, the name is Svetlana Belikova the main antagonist from the CGI Resident Evil Damnation movie!

Regarding our minds creating our own interpretations. If you have ever walked through forest at night you know exactly what I mean. Your brain tries to make sense of the shadows and now suddenly you see trolls, weird figures in the dark, and that's why I totally agree that the less "perfect" backgrounds work better.

I’m not a huge fan of buying games full price, but I always make an exception with the RE games. It was love at first sight when I played the first game lol. No matter if it’s the games, the books, or the CG animated movies (sry, only liked the first live action, the rest are trash imo), I’m an enormous fan of the franchise and always will be! I remember renting Resident evil for my playstation when it was released way back in the day. It was a long weekend so the rental place had a deal for a 3 day rental. So over the long weekend (when I was 16 and had the energy lol) I ever went 72 hours with only 4 or 5 hours of intermittent sleep because I HAD to beat it before I returned it and with the internet in its infancy there were no walkthroughs and none of my buddies had beat it so it was all trial and error. That weekend is still in my top 5 weekends ever lol

Did anyone fall for the EGM2 RE 2 Akuma April Fools joke? They claimed if you beat the game six times, all A rank with only the knife/handgun you would unlock Akuma when you entered his name in the lab computer in both scenarios. This was in April 1998.

My first contact with the Resident Evil franchise was watching a guy play it on PS1 on a Video(game) Rental Store and I found it intriguing, but never played it. The first RE game that I played was RE2 on the N64 and I f$%&ing loved it! After that I became a fan of the franchise and never looked back. There are only a few I haven't finished or even played, like the Survivor ones and spin offs like Operation Racoon City. About the movies... they suck.

Devil's Advocate incoming... Prince of Persia had motion capture cut scenes... Multiple years before 2002's original RE1 Remake [(remaster1) RE1R1]. Still... It was a phenomenal game that created an absurd resurgence of interest in the franchise. Absolutely fantastic game, deserving of all credit and praise. Only love friends.

Resident Evil: Outbreak hasn't been lost to the sands of time. You can still play it via emulation to this day. Obviously, you can't play it online anymore, but you can still play it single-player.

the emulation's and the original copies are still available, that is correct. But the source files and the original data for the games are gone, the dev team behind the games cleaned them out with their servers after a merger or some kind of acquisition. It's all covered in the book "Itchy, Tasty" by Alex Aniel.

I didn't see the RE games until my 30s. However I get what you guys love about it, as I feel that way about the stuff I'm into. My gaming goes back to Atari. And I do miss it lol. I want to get one if those new Atari reboot systems. I did get the Nintendo reboot and it's great playing some of these old games! I was playing Contra all excited and my husband was just, "🙄really Carrie...you love this game??" LOL yep! I had the Super Nintendo and miss that. Zelda, Pitfall Jr (had a secret level that let me play the original Atari game) and Castlevania IV were my favs from that. I then went withiut until PS2 and I got a Final Fantasy game. It still works. I got a PS5 this year, got a few PS4 games that were upgrades from the PS and PS2 and I like the older ones better. Jared does have a great voice but Mauler still holds the title!

Drinker I hope you read this. First of all you have to play tormented souls. It is hands-down the best thing to come out sense resident evil original and you can get it on steam for like $10. Secondly I totally relate to all of this because I couldn’t afford a PlayStation growing up at least not at first. I first played resident evil at a friends house and could only play kind of short intervals and once my friend would beat a game he would take it back to electronics boutique and get a different game so I never got to beat it. Couple of years later I got a PlayStation for Christmas and resident evil two and I played the hell out of that game. I mostly played resident evil three at a different friends house and then once I Saul resident evil four at an entirely different friends house I kind of gave up on the series because I saw what it had turned into and I really wasn’t happy with it. I pretty much fell off of the resident evil franchise until Village came out only to then realized that the remix had already been done and I about shit my pants. I instantly purchased the remix for 12 and three and I was in heaven. I’ve also severely enjoyed resident evil four remake even though I never really cared for the original. Being the proud owner of a Sega Dreamcast I just may purchase code Veronica soon and play through it because I could give two farts yes they came out with a resident evil five remake. I’ve played the game in the past couple of years and it’s dog shit

I had a friend who had a Playstation but I only had an N64 and we were super into Resident Evil. I would watch him play that game for hours and he had tons of action figures and we'd play these huge scenarios against zombies. The next Christmas I got RE2 on the N64 and I played it for years. It's a quirky port looking back on it now but I loved it but I could only play RE1 / 3 when at his house until years later when I had more consoles.

I've never played a resident evil game in my life. Yea, imagine that! I even had a PS1, but no RE. I remember my friend's sister was addicted to it, but that was about it. So I don't have this long lasting nostalgia for it. But I know the main characters (eg. Claire, Jill, Chris, Nemesis), so was able to follow for the most part. This retrospective makes me want to do a play through though!

Most of the games outside of some spinoffs are playable on current gen and regularly go on sale. I'd def encourage you to play at least the first 3 games including the remakes.

I *adore* the Resident Evil series. I had Outbreak and 4 on the PS2, and Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii, but I was a dumb little kid at the time who didn't really know what to do. On the XBOX 360 I had 5 and Operation Raccoon City, which I still have a soft spot for because the designs of Wolf Pack are A-tier. It was only after I got a decent gaming rig in 2019 and played the 2 REmake that I really got into it, and since then I've made my way through the 3 and 4 REmake, 7, and Village (which is now one of my top ten favorite games ever). I've got a custom-made vial of the Mutamycete virus from 7 and Village on my desk and am looking around for an RPD badge to add to my collection. I'm a big, big fan of the series. It's big, crazy, scary, often dumb, but always cool fun, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Plus, the porn is fantastic.

Based on a review I watched of RE0 I think it should be played by two people while Billy and Rebecca are together because supposedly you could control both characters at the same time with two different controllers in the GameCube version.

Sadly not, you could move the second character with the C-stick but still only 1 controller. It's a shame, as the gamecube did support lan setups so it's something they could (and should, imo) have added.

RE1 Chris was hardmode, and Jill was easy mode. All due to Jill getting the unlocking, more inventory slots, and Barry giving extra free items. Chris gets to laugh at Wesker, and Jill gets the silly jokes from Barry.

@@henriklarssen1331 Chris, as you mentioned, was more tanky, and given his knife, there were optimal runs specific to him. Just if on Hard from my recollection, the extra health didn't factor depending on the enemy type. It's been years since I've played so. I could be misremembering😅...

@@VanTesla Iam not 100% sure about everything because the Remake also changed some of these things, so it gets a bit blurry. in the Remake Chris had around 55% more HP compared to Jill and his Gun had higher crit chance and he aimed faster. Not 100% sure if these Numbers are close to the ones in the original. Chris wasnt straight up harder but Jill got a bit more help here and there through Barry. And Chris had more trouble when it came to inventory management thanks to the small keys and only the 6 slots.

I played RE4 first, and going back to play the original games, I adapted to tank controls really quickly. I later tried playing the remastered RE1 on steam, and the "updated" controls were cancerous. I had to switch back to tank controls.

I never see people claiming 4 is the best while shitting on tank controls. Sorry but that seems fabricated or exceedingly rare. I find their disscussion about why zombies are scary, because i have never been scared of them BECAUSE they are dumb! a human with a knife is more dangerous than any slow zombie since they can actually catch up with me! thats why in the RE games i am far more scared of the other creatures like Lickers, Mr. X, Nemesis, The Regenerators, basically almost anything thats not a traditional zombie in those games. This is why i think the Ganados had a incredible potential to be scary if they were put in a full horror game instead of something more action oriented like RE4! i remember that one of the scariest moments for me in Night of the Living Dead was when the first zombie is trying to break the glass of a car door to get to one of the characters, then turns around looking for something and then grabs a rock and starts using it to break the glass! to me thats far more scary than any modern brainless zombie! if it can do that it means that its going to be harder to outsmart it!

The idea they have for making resident evil a themed horror series of one-offs like 7 is spot on. Capcom wants to milk the og storyline to death so let them do that with more revelations games, but 9, 10, and 11 could be different strains of horror like how 7 left zombieland and went more for classic American grind house feel. We could have a sci fi horror game with alien horrors like the thing and xenomorphs, a predator/jungle game like they mentioned, and then circle bsck around to gothic horror like in 8, just hopefully not a shameless ripoff of 4s map and setup tho.

RE 6 in general is a mediocre game at best. Im not a purist by any stretch(I love 4 and 5, despite OG RE 2 being my favourite RE), but the controls are so wonky, the damage and weapon feedback feel so arcady and the look is just off (maybe the colour grading, cant put my finger on it). Even playing it in coop I had shockingly little fun, and that was the saving grace for 5 which made me like it so much.
