This love ballad theme from LADY SINGS THE BLUES - was a very important piece of music for the Oscar nominated Diana Ross - Berry Gordy hit film! Written by the French composer MICHEL LeGRAND, its lushness & soulfulness blended perfectly into the films darker elements of racism and love in the 1940s USA.

This is also one of my favorites! The lyrics are just amazing. It describes so precisely the feeling when you feel yourself loved by someone else. As Michael said, this song is purely about happiness and love! He sang it with all his heart, he felt the song! No words to describe how much I love him! Rest in Peace The King of Pop!

Although his voice was not mature yet, you can already hear the Thriller-era-like vocals. Beautiful.

Michael was so handsome & beautiful here! Gorgeous! His face, nose, & hair so lovely! He was brainwashed like so many Blacks by comparing their selves to Europeans. He was already so perfect & didn’t know it.

There's a lot of europeans with big noses!! MJ wasn't brainwashed!! He did a nose job because his brothers used to make fun of him and call him "big nose" when he was a child!! That's why! And about the skin he had a disease called:Vitiligo. He was a proud to be black American he said it many times.

Glam Jackson I am aware that neither Black nor White people are homogenous. Nevertheless, his inspiration of what he thought was acceptable was based upon a narrow-interpretation of a Euro-centric influence. I am not saying he did not have a skin disorder or he necessarily wanted to be white, but he wanted to achieve a look that was far opposite of what he was, is my point, and it was not necessary in my opinion. He was already perfect.

classanddignity He only did a nose job. and just because he done it everybody saying he didn't want to be black!!! everybody in Hollywood had plastic surgery not just him. he only changed his nose which all of his brothers and his parents done it too. he just had Vitiligo. that's all.

The movie, "Lady Sings the Blues", is a 1972 American biographical film about jazz singer Billie Holiday loosely based on her 1956 autobiography which, in turn, took its title from one of Holiday's most popular songs. It was nominated for five Academy Awards. The nominations were for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Diana Ross), Best Art Direction-Set .Decoration (Carl Anderson, Reg Allen), Best Costume Design, Best Music, Original Song Score and Adaptation (Gil Askey) and Best Writing, Story and Screenplay Based on Factual Material or Material Not Previously Published or Produced . The film was also screened at the 1973 CANNES (France ) Film Festival, but was not entered into the main competition. The same year, Motown released a hugely successful soundtrack double-album of Ross' recordings of Billie Holiday songs from the film, also titled Lady Sings the Blues. Diana Ross received a BAFTA nomination ( the British Oscar ) for Best Actress in a Leading Role . In 1973, Ross' album " LADY SINGS THE BLUES ", reached the # 1 in the USA Billboard album and remained in the charts 54 weeks ! In USA, the album sold over 2 millions records and Diana Ross, in 1974, won an AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD in the category best "Album Pop / Rock " . It was the first time that, in the American charts, a jazz / blues album reached the # 1 in the pop charts. The album, peaked at # 5 in CANADA, at # 43 in AUSTRALIA and at # 50 in UK, where the album sold over 100.000 copies and, in 1974, was certified by BPI, GOLD record.
