A new movie in 2027? Barbara Broccoli has said and I quote: “When we get going on a Bond movie it takes our full attention for three or four years”. So if development began on a new movie tomorrow, it wouldn’t be on the screen until 2028. I personally don’t think development will begin until early 2026 at the soonest, and that would be to aim for a late 2029 release date. If EON wants to hold off even longer, then we’ll be waiting until 2030 onwards before we see another one.

She's exaggerating a bit and is also including film release/post-release duties in that estimate. So if it started in earnest tomorrow, it'd be a 2027 release (3 years = 1 for script development, 1 for production finalization, 1 for release year stuff). You can and should take what I say with a grain of salt, but I have heard some things I trust that makes me optimistic that 2025 will, indeed, be the year for script development on BOND 26.

We last spoke at the end of last year about this. You predicted that “after the holidays” development would begin. That of course didn’t happen, so why would 2025 be any different to 2024? A quote from Gregg Wilson (Michael Wilson’s son) in November last year: “No plans on making the next Bond at this stage. There will be another Bond someday, but we’re not actively developing it.” I don’t know about you, but that to me suggests that Bond 26 is further away into the future than what most people seem to think. When the time eventually comes, Bond 26 will be trickier to adapt than any of the other films from the past. So in this case, 3-4 years seems realistic to me. Meanwhile, Barbara Broccoli is busy with her passion projects. I think the James Bond character is far from her mind at the moment.
