So happy you got the 2 siblings. What a blessing. We just revived a placement of our foster daughter 10 last night. She is settling in nicely ❤️ we are now a family of 8 again 💙💜💙💙💜💜

5:39 I love when kids have big hearts like that... especially when they have valid reasons to not be happy with parts of their world.

Except for me confusing the 2 17 year olds, you communicated that story great. That was on me.

Yeah, I don’t know how else to describe them. The one who came first to us is the one we have disrupted. The second one is the one we still have…. Hopefully that clears things up. Both of them have big hearts and both of us encouraged us to say yes separate times when we wanted to say no.

What do you recommend out of everything youve gone through, and learned for someone is beginning the process into it

16:17 Psychological/emotional whiplash is definitely a thing. Make sure you're keeping your cortisol levels and adrenal system in check. Actually that would be a good idea for the entire family since the kids are already coming in with trauma.
@HappyHoppe11 ай бұрын
How do you get those levels checked? Bloodwork?

@@HappyHoppe yeah talk to your/their doctor....and if they brush you off because they're kids, they shouldn't be working with kids.

Hey Lisa ! Are we able to send you a email ? I’m a foster parent too

Can you talk about how you handle religion in your family? I know not all children have a religious background coming in and some have a different religious background. Do you expect them to go to church even then or do you not even consider those cases? Taking from your Christian perspective would still help foster parents of other religions navigate this situation.

We do attend church every Sunday. I can’t get respite for a child every time, so yes the foster kids/teens come with us. I don’t require them to stand up/sing, even stay awake during the services, but yes they do come with us. If that was a problem for that child and their family, then a different foster family would be a better fit for them. We’ve never run into that problem, even when watching kids of other religions. Most kids have really enjoyed our church and enjoying seeing familiar faces each week in the lobby.

@@HappyHoppe "or even stay awake" ...I actually LOLed at that. 🤣 Based on that comment I think we need a video on this. It would be informative and possibly humorous.🤣
