In this video we take a look at the Harbor Freight, Central Pneumatic 2 in 1 Brad Nailer / Stapler. I show you what you get for the price, and how well it works. This is a great gun for the price for doing finishing work. It is not a framing nailer or anything heavy like that. It is pretty much the same as the Banks brand that Harbor Freight has introduced recently but costs a whole lot less. If you are looking for a budget friendly brad nailer / stapler, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I bought one of these last August when I needed a compressor and it works very well. I’ve fixed all sorts of things around the house. I found it perfect for molding and, surprisingly, rebuilding the latticework on top of my fence. Without this nailer, I wouldn’t have been able to do the job. With it, I rebuilt lattice on seven panels in two days. Like just about everyone else, I learned the hard way about leaving plunger marks on molding. Lowering the pressure to between 40-60 psi on pine solved that. On some oak, it didn’t leave a mark at 90 psi. Very, very good tool for the money, IMO.

Thank you for the very descriptive review. Bought this nailer several years ago but rarely use it. Today needed it for stapling. . Could not figure how to load the staples. Attempted to load the same way as for brads. The manual instructions for loading staples were not easy for me to understand. There were no illustrations. Did a search on KZbin and found your video. Greatly appreciated seeing you load staples, placing them through the top slot in the magazine. My project was then completed very quickly. Great review of the Harbor Freight 2 in 1 Nailer Stapler. Mine is about 3 years old and continues to work very well.

Thank first of all for your time in making a very helpful video, I own a boat trailer that needs to be recarpet, the wood beam are 10 footer hard wood ,is the 18 Guage staples good for the carpet ,and of course the staples have to be stainless steel ,will that gun do the job thank you sir for your time
@ModernDIYProjects3 жыл бұрын
Glad I could help. I believe that the nailer should do the work you need. Since you are working with a hard wood all I would suggest is that you may need to increase the air output to give it a greater punch. At 40PSI it's find to avoid divets, but with carpeting you should not have that issue so higher PSI will be fine.

I have found that setting the air pressure to 38 psi does not leave marks on soft wood using nails. On mine 38 to 60 psi is the best for both nails and staples depending on the wood being pushed thru. Air temps play a part of the air pressure setting also.

The holder tray has a devider in the middle. Make sure you put the nails on the side closest to you. Staples are supposed to stradle the devider. Otherwise open the head using the spring on the front and see if there is an obstruction or jam of some sort. Worst case, return it and get a new one.

Just viewed your recent HF coupon video and came to see your review on this item. I can't justify buying it at full price because I didn't have any use for it until recently. $5 bucks for spending $50 seems very reasonable. Also, do you think the 2x4 underneath the particle board prevented the staple from seating flush? Just an observation. Either way, for $5 I will pick one up tomorrow. Thanks for the great reviews.
@ModernDIYProjects2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct about why the nails didn't seat properly. 1- The air pressure needs to be adjusted for best results for each job. 2- When you have multiple pieces of wood stacked together you will get a bounce effect. That will prevent the nails from going all the way through. I didn't want to mess up my bench so I had to do the video that way. But in a real world scenario, you would not have that problem.

@@ModernDIYProjects well, let me ask it this way. Would you recommend against buying brad nails from HF? They are much cheaper there, so I was wondering if the quality is good enough.
@ModernDIYProjects3 жыл бұрын
They are OK nails. You may get a few more jams, misfires, or bent nails but if the price is low enough compared to other places you may want to put up with it. Some things for example sanding paper, I say to stay away from because it clogs up so easily you just waste too much. It comes out costing more than at Home Depot because you will buy more. Nails are just metal so it can't be too horrible. Test out one box before you make a decision to buy more.

That was just a spark from the striker piece ramming into the nail, the nail itself did not go flying, the nail went into the wood as it was supposed to. Nailer’s occasionally spark from the steel to steel impact as it moves hard / fast. Even using a regular hammer and hitting a nail with it, you can get a spark sometimes. Google "nail gun sparks", and I'm sure you will see it is quite normal. Any nail gun I've used does this sometimes.
