I just bought the metric. My oil drain pan bolt was totally stripped and these worked perfectly on the first try. Good buy.

THANKS!!! Your instruction about hammering them on saved me from a catastrophic round off. I even had to use the 1/2" drive ratchet to turn an 11mm extractor. Wow; Excellent video. I now own these two sets. TY TY TY

These style of extractor sockets are by far my favorite. Use them all the time on buggered up oil drain plugs. Generally speaking, if one of these fails the angle grinder is coming out.

They work good, seized caliper bolt that snapped a 3/8 breaker bar. You smack the socket on with a sledge or hammer. So say it's a 14mm rounded nut try the 13 and see if it's a tight fit if so smack it on and take it off. Use these at work and I'm a mechanic at a shop

I'll say it again - I really enjoy your videos. Your video production rate is amazing. Stuff I'd like to hear you talk about: 1. socket rails. 2. how you store your tools. 3. damage/deformation to the open-ends of wrenches. On number 3: damage caused by poor usage, vs poor quality of wrench, etc. thanks again

A tool box tour of the sockets will be coming. I did do a review of a Harbor Freight socket rail and I talked about them a bit in that video I'm not fond of a plastic trays because as you set build they don't cover every possible size and when you don't have every size they look weird with empty spaces plus they're huge and take up too much space. Damaged tools is surprisingly difficult, as I collected more tools I'm able to have the proper tool for the job and not damage it I'm also careful with my tools so I don't break many of them.

Used these for a 19mm wheel lock that a tire shop over tightened. Nothing got it out and it stripped the socket. Even with the extractor on I broke 2 ratchets (thank God for HF lifetime warranty). Gave it a last shot with the impact and it worked !

These are OK but the really good ones have the ability to accept a open end/ box end wrench for really tight spaces.

I found these very handy. I was readjusting the skid shoes on a snowblower and a few of the nuts that hold them on and rounded out. I didn't take one of those nuts to the hardware store to find out what size they are and purchased new ones.

I'm going after these. Good price. All these years I've been using a Raise the Titanic torch, and burn them out to nothing then, tossing the whole car in an active volcano. thanks Catus, Maximus, you just saved me a lot of problems.

Purchased a set of these 2 weeks ago as I rounded a shock bolt with my normal socket set. These worked the first time with just a few taps from my hammer to set it. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it worked.

Most of us are here because we have all struggled with rounded bolts. I would like to share some tips for the none pro's. Get yourself a good set of six point sockets. You will not believe how much better they will grip on a bolt that a 12 point slips off. Get a gas gun, nothing fancy and heat up bolts that won't come out, honestly, the first time I tried it on a stuck bolt it came out so easy I thought I had broken the head off, but no, it just works. (Do have a good look to see if there is anything flammable before you apply the flame though.) Hit the head of the bolt a few times with a hammer or use a punch and hammer. The shock waves will loosen a bolt. If you can afford it, get yourself an impact gun, lot's of battery powered ones around now.

Why are they still making 12 point sockets & fuxxxxx wrenches,
@harveysmith1004 жыл бұрын
@@scottvan1898 I share your frustration Scott. They still use twelve point bolts so there is a small need for them. Personally I think you should be locked up for using a twelve point of a six sided bolt.! You can get six side wrenches. I have a few but they are not easy to find. The twelve point does help on wrenches in confined spaces but if I can I use six sided wrenches.

@crimsonlight4205 Жыл бұрын
Old comment but if anyone else sees this, if it gets stuck in the socket just take the socket off the ratchet, get a small screwdriver or Alan wrench, put it in the socket and smack it with a hammer or in a tight spot, smack it with the wrench.

Love your channel Catus! Do you think these might be okay to use with an impact? I'm going to have to pick this up tomorrow and try it on a rounded bolt I have in the differential. Everything was going too well till I got to the last bolt. Hopefully it will help.

In that situation I would recommend spiral type extractors from a auto parts store these probably won't grip as well and may end up stripping it really badly

@@CatusMaximus thanks for the help! I searched 3 autozones,2 O'Reilly's, a Napa. I couldn't find them or it was the wrong size. I lucked out on my way to a Sears and saw a snap on truck at a costco. The guy was getting food. Lol I got home and it worked like a charm!

3Dec2018. A Just in the nick of time video to me. I made an attempt to change a front wheel bearing, on my Saturn Vue. Nope, Nada, ain’t happening... the bolt heads are still ok, as I realized their fate.. I stopped. Three bolts in the worse possible locations. Typical idiotic engineering.. people who design things yet never put together or disassemble what they design. Anyhow your video has given me hope. The ten percent rule. Sure, I could bring the car to a shop, have them replace the wheel bearing, however, I cannot just yet, justify the cost. Thanks for the video. I will purchase a set after work today.
