Hi Tony, I really enjoy your battery powered lawn mower videos.

Thanks Lee. I've been asked a bunch of questions about this one. This might be the last in this series - since hopefully I've answered most of the questions now . . . I think.

My 8 yo Ego died recently and my fuse replacement was not the fix so I am in the market for a new mower. I was using a aged 7.5ah battery that has reduced capacity due to age and I would often have to swap out for my 1/2 acre lawn to another Ego battery. So I am thinking these very small capacity Atlas 2.5ah or 4ah 80V Atlas batteries I would need a minimum of two of the 4ah variants. I priced it out tool, 2 of the 4ah 80V batteries, one rapid charger comes to $847.96 + tax. That is a very hard pill to swallow considering I can get a Ego not on sale with two 6ah for $799.99 or one 7.5ah for $699.99. I think if Atlas was on sale then it may reach price parity with other brands, but when not on sale it is seriously expensive for those with larger yards that need two higher capacity batteries. I thought Ego was expensive on batteries but these are pricey. I am guessing they are priced so high because of frequent sales. But no sale going on right now when I need one.
No gas, no oil changes, cheap recharge in less than an hour. If it goes bad, it's cheaply replaced and you can just move the batteries over. And the whining is the drive motor. If the motor goes bad, you might be able to find a cheap electric motor replacement and just rebuild it also. It's the same reason battery power tools took over in the industry, their just easier to use, no cords, no outlet, no air compressor, can be used just about anywhere at the drop of a hat.
