Which wires are you talking about? The 3 wires to the motor? Or the servo wires to the receiver?

I use rechargeable battery’s and my transmitters are 8 aa’s and 2.4
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
My newest transmitter is a 2.4 rechargeable ( spectrum DX8) I haven't converted the two Harbor Freight P-51s over to spectrum receivers yet. They are still Tactic. I'll convert them over to spectrum and the DX8 this spring so that all my planes will be on the same transmitter.

Where would the white 4 pin connector on the 1350 battery connect to on the stock receiver?
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
That doesn't connect to any receiver, whether it's a stock 72 Mhz (FM) receiver or a 4.2Ghz receiver. That is only used for charging the Lipo battery with a balancing board. Most complex (multi type battery chargers come with a balancing board that had a receptical for that plug so that it can read all 3 cells (in this case)so that it can keep them balanced during charging, while the main charging current goes through the connector for the two large wires. Small cheaper balance chargers only use the white balancer plug for charging. So in the airplane, that plug is not used unless you want to plug in a small voltage meter/low voltage alarm to the battery. That would plug in there as well. But is is not used for normal airplane functions. Just store that plug out of theway.

Hi , Where did you buy 4100 KV motor with small gear on it. We have same plane and trying to get rid of this kind of gearbox assembly. Any suggestion ? Thank you
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that they are now discontinued. But you should be able to find an inrunner with a 2mm shaft. I had to buy the small pinion gear separate. It's a 14 tooth gear, w/2mm hole. While they tell you not to. I'm sure you can remove the one off old motor and lock tite it on new motor shaft. That set up is becoming increasingly hard to find these days. You may be better getting an outrunner with an outrunner mount adapter. That won't need a pinion gear as you eliminate the gearbox. I'll post it in a next post after this one. I have to find it.
i just tried to buy the park 370 4100kv brusless motor. its discontinued. what other motors do your recommend for a inrunner setup? Im trying to build the exact setup you have
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
Honestly I haven't tried anything else yet. I guess any park 370 or equivalent 2mm motor shaft 11.1 volt motor with a decent kv rating would be fine. Even going to an outrunner may be a better option

I am sorry I have tried to listen and take notes. would you mind listing the name of the parts I would need to upgrade? Thank you Robert
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
If you scroll down through the comments on the -part 3 of 4 video in the series, I have links to the parts that I use. You may have to Google search the gearbox as the link no carries it, but the part number and name can still be searched and found in other places. The stock gear box will work fine, but eventually you may need to replace it so spares are nice. Thequicker upgrade would be to get the outrunner mount and simply replace the gearbox setup with an outrunner motor and a 25A ESC for a brushless motor. If you want the gearbox and inrunner set up like I use, the e-flite Park 370 4100kv inrunner motor is still available. The link for the pinion gear for the motor is still good. If you have the tooling, you could take the pinion gear off the old stock motor and lock-tite it to the new motor shaft. The link for the spare props still work (I have not had one of these break yet). If not available now, search by part number. Any 20 -25A ESC for brushless motors will work. E-flite 1350mah 3S lipo batteries are perfect size and weight. They will fit with the stock 72Hz receiver in there. If you decide to replace your FM receiver with a 2.4GHz receiver and radio, ( but it's not necessary) then any 1800mah to 2200mah 3S Lipo batteries will fit.

The install exactly the same as the stock props. They slide over the shaft and have a hex inset that goes over the shaft nut and the stock prop nut goes on behind or to lock it down.

Hello I had went out an bought one of these planes yesterday and I'm doing the up grade on it I had found the brushless 4100Kv motor and the battery you got...But as far as the speed controller I can't locate a 20 amp but I found a 40 amp just wondering if you know if that would be ok. ? And also what kinda charger are you useing to charge that type of battery ? And also what kind of propeller would you recommend ?

40 amp should work fine. Props. 8x6 I think the link is in a couple of the comments in this build series. One is in part 2

@@cadillacescalade5428 I use a Hitec X1 MF AC/DC charger, with a balance board. Any charger that allows you to charge 3S Lipo batteries. Better to have ones that allow you to select capacity, amperage, and a balance charge capability is a must. Most use balance boards.

What do you mean by with the 5400kv you don’t gain anything in the end? Is it going to be only as fast as the 4100, or only as fast as the original?
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
The 5400kv (next higher kv inrunner in the park 370 series by e-flite), which I accidentally purchased....is a 7.4 volt motor. In that class, the 4100kv was the highest I could go with a 3S 11.1volt inrunner motor. While the 5400kv had a higher KV rating...being a 7.4 volt motor (2S) the speed & power made by it would not gain me anything in the end. I haven't checked to see if there is a higher 11.1volt inrunner (370 class) out there. There may be one, but where I was looking, there was none at the time. I suppose I could have gone with an outrunner set up and gained a ton of speed, but for the time, wanted to keep a gearbox/inrunner set up.

I placed an order for the inrunner 4100KVmoter should be getting it soon......but the only thing I could find was a 40 amp Brushless speed controller. Will that work with the set up ? Or would it have to be a 20 amp ?

Ok got a question for you. After my whole upgrade after I received those props from you I went to the park an took it on a ball field for my flight. Mind you this was an is my 1st time ever flying a R/C plane. So I achieved to get it in the air but when I went to try to adjust the trim the plane just went out of control fast an made a complete nose dive. Luckily it didn't damage the plane to much but it did mess up my gear box with the shaft those to mini bearings that hold the shaft one got messed up an wondering if you know the size of those ? And also I'll make a video later about the issue. But regarding the gearbox would you know where I can get another just in case. I need to stock up on spare parts like you...

By the way; this was also my first RC plane as well. I learned that that was a bad idea as the plane could react quicker than my mind could in certain circumstances. I wrecked mine hard either on the 1st or 2nd flight as I got to cocky before I was ready.

@@markhyde43 Hi I'm just wondering I noticed that you had a different motor housing an was wondering if you have ever needed to change out the spur gear the big black gear ??
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
@@cadillacescalade5428 I did after my first couple of nose-in crashes. The stock spur gear is narrower than the one I have you a link to. The replacement gearbox comes with a new spur gear. They are a bit thicker and beefier. I opted to not simply replace spur gear alone because removing and replacing the shaft wears the bearings in the gearbox out. Also....you have to make sure you get the spur gear with the right amount of teeth. I believe this plane and gearbox needs a 62 tooth spur gear. If you're not careful and ordering just Spur Gears you may get one with too few teeth that's too small in diameter and it won't contact the pinion gear
