I haven't flown (maiden) mine just yet, but I'm considering adding an NX3 gyro flight stabilizer to this plane. I got my new 9x6 props today and tested them on the ground, what a difference!
@markhyde434 жыл бұрын
I'll bet. I use 8x6 props and as you've seen... They move pretty good. Not setting any speed records, but plenty of power.

@@markhyde43 Yes I know, I tested both the original props and my new 9x6 I got today from AMZ, and I can tell the difference. By the way my Integy Outrunner 300W brushless setup is coming next week. But I might test fly the plane with the original motor and new prop, and see how it goes, before I go on with the motor modification.

@@texasuavpilot oooooh. I would not. Not with that battery and motor combo. That plane does not like taking off slow. As many early stock videos revealed. I'd wait.
@texasuavpilot4 жыл бұрын
@@markhyde43 I'll follow your advise and wait a few days. By the way that Integy outrunner brushless 300W + ESC combo supposedly comes with the proper mount for this plane, so that should make it easier. This will be my very first brushless upgrade.
@markhyde434 жыл бұрын
Well the HF P-51 was technically my first RC airplane and my first brushless upgrade as well. In fact I never flew it with a brushed motor. I saw enough of the disasterous launch videos to deter me from even trying. But I would venture to guess, the upgrade difference is night and day

Where do you get your props? Thanks for all your info! It’s been a great help!!
I used to have a cessna 172 that had a pretty good motor. Finally when it died i harvested the parts. I came across this p51 in harbor freight, and put the motor from the much larger 172 onto the p51 frame and used a dx6 transmitter. It was so fast i could dive down and pull up and the wings would bend into a u shape. They never broke however. I really would love to get my hands on this plane again but i cannot find it online anywhere. Anyone have a resource for purchasing this?

@@markhyde43 none of the ones in my area have them or have had them in years. Quite odd that there is zero for sale on the internet

Here is the link for the motor (inrunner Park 370 4100kv): www.horizonhobby.com/airplanes/motors/park-370-brushless-inrunner-motor--4100kv-eflm1000 Here is link for the gearbox that i use: www.hobbytown.com/gearbox-w-shaft-gamma-370-gamma-v2-by-ares-azs1211/p501380 Here is link for the propellers that I currently use: www.ebay.com/p/5-X-RC-Airplane-Aircraft-Model-Propellers-Props-Black-203x152-8x6-8060/710141229 If you use an inrunner and you do not wish to re-use your pinion gear, here is the link for the pinion gear-- it is a 14 tooth 3mm pinion gear. ***Do not use the two that come with the motor. They are 10 and 12 teeth. you need 14 teeth.: hobbyking.com/en_us/pinion-gear-2-3mm-0-5m-14t-1pc.html Also if you really do not want to mess around with the gearbox and inrunner motor set up. You can order this stick mount - outrunner adaptor. It mounts to the stick mount and keeps the motor shaft up where it is supposed to be. ****But! with an outrunner motor--you will have to find a new propeller to fit the shaft and you will probably need a new spinner that fits to the outrunner. Here it is: www.hobbytown.com/motor-brushless-outrunner-mount-370-gamma-370-pro-by-ares-azs1228/p501740

I just got one from someone I know and it needs a nose and a prop if someone could find a link for that would be great.

@Hi43155 I'll have to look and see what I have. I one time I had a blue spinner spare and maybe a prop hub. I'll have to dig around when I get home.

Hi got a question as your explaining about the battery seating there on the left side Just wondering how is the CG on your plane.......A guy at the Hobby shop I showed mine to he said for probably best results to put the receiver towards the nose an the battery in the center. I've been trying to fig. Out the best way because if I lay it on the left the canopy won't go on as the battery sits up high
@markhyde435 жыл бұрын
I just cut away foam on the lip where the battery goes. CG? I've never had any cg issues. Flys great

Where do you buy the stick mount for brushless outrunner?

Currently you can get them here. I just looked. Copy the p/n to search for other sites. www.elitemodelsonline.co.uk/Aircraft/Aircraft-Spares/Electric-Aircraft-Spares/Ares/Gamma-370/20345-/AZS1228-Motor-Brushless-Outrunner-Mount-370-Gamma-370Pro

Thanks for all the tips! Maybe it's just me and I hate to bitch but that camera between the moving forward and backward with the camera and the bouncing around of the plane and the camera. I can't watch the video without taking some dramamine first. It makes me so nauseous and weak I had to finish the video by just listening.
