In this video I discuss and demonstrate the Pittsburgh Mower Jack from Harbor Freight. Now that I have a garage shop I finally have room for more tools and equipment!!

*Nice demo video. A few tips:* 1. Use two sets of chocks, one set for the lift wheels and one set for the mower's rear tires. Don’t put the mower's rear wheel chocks in place until after you have lifted the mower. 2. Set the position of the lift. Drive the mower up to it but leave room to turn your mower's front wheels around. (This will give your mower deck some slight space to keep it from hitting up against the lift.) Then push the lift so that the wheel holders are touching the front wheels. Then place one set of chocks under the lift's wheels. 3. Release the mower brakes. You should have a way to put the transmission in "neutral" allowing you to physically push the mower forward to get the front wheels onto the wheel holders. DO NOT put the rear wheels chocks in place yet. (this will allow the mower to move back just a little as you pump up the lift, and keep the lift from backing up as you pump it up). 4. Release the mower brakes. You should have a way to put the transmission in "neutral" allowing you to physically push the mower forward. to allow. 5. Once you have the mower lifted, then place the chocks on the rear wheels to keep the mower from moving back. Place the mower back in drive and engage the brakes to ensure the mower does not move. 6. When you're ready to lower your mower, place it back in neutral, release the brakes and remove the chocks...but don't remove the chocks on the lift's wheels just yet. Those will keep the lift from moving back into you as you lower the mower. These sound like long steps but once you do them once or twice it becomes routine and you can do them in just a minute or two. _Believe me, this is the best, safest and most secure way to use your lift. I purchased the Mojack HDL 500 Lawn Mower Lift and learned this process when testing it the same way you did, before using it for actual mower maintenance._ *_Happy mower maintenance!_*

I bought that exact model around 3 years ago and it's worked great so far.

I bought one of these last week and can confirm it’s a great product. It’s not too expensive; saved me an assload of hassles. Thanks for the video.

Any thing beats nothing folks, being safer is the main reason you need one 😊😊😊

I chock the mower tires, front and back after getting it up. I chock the wheels of the lift when I drive onto the lift. I don't trust the safety pins so I add car jacks underneath, just in case. Set parking brake after it's lifted. Safety first.

I bought one of these lifts a few years ago. After 3 years of use, the hydraulic pump would no longer lift my Husqvarna riding mower. And Harbor Freight doesn't offer a rebuild kit for the pump.I should have bought the HD mower lift.

Harbor freight has another tractor lift that is heavier duty for the heavier lawnmowers for a bit more money.

I had 1 of these for like 3 years before assembly, cause i thought I had lost some parts, After getting it together ,which was easy I find it very good and handy.

Just cut a couple wood wedges for the wheels to ride over. Or one block.
@citizenpewgarageАй бұрын
That will work short term for sure, I'm thinking I need something 3D printer that attaches to them and swings into place when lowered.

I was hoping to see you assembling the lift but thanks for showing how to use it😊

I guess that would have been some good content, lol, still new to creating this genre of content. I'll get figured out though, nothing to get but better!!

Move the pins back 1 or 2 holes so the tires sit in well. Your tires should be able to be seen just below the bottom of bracket when they are off the ground

As with a car, don't trust that jack to hold it up. Put jack stands under the mower as well. I put them under my Ferris every single time.

Definitely!

The earlier versions of this jack are made of heavier guage metal.

Cut a wedge out of a 2x6 12" long to ride your tires over the bars.

Now that's some thinking!! Solid idea.

A normal jack will do the trick. This takes more space.if you have the unused space then I guess it’s better.

Wanted to see how it stored.
@citizenpewgarageАй бұрын
Unfortunately it doesn't store well unless you break it down a bit, I'm still working on the best way to store it out of the way, but I can definitely do a short video when I find it.

I have a lawn mower lift; it's called a tractor. LOL
@citizenpewgarage2 ай бұрын
That will do the trick, lol. I have a neighbor who uses a chain host over a large tree branch, he gets it done. Thanks for watching!

I have a commercial zero turn I don’t think that would be able to hold it I just use regular ole ramps to clean the deck and change the blades much safer IMO.

It’s to light weight, get the HD 750 lift before you get hurt or killed
@Johnnysokko168Ай бұрын
I just bought this and had to return because it wouldn't lift my zero turn, it did lift my riding mower though. I had to get the 750lb version they had.
@citizenpewgarageАй бұрын
You must have a heavy duty zero turn, my neighbor brought his over to change his blades, he has a small commercial grade zero turn, it struggled to pick it up. This model is definitely for residential grade mowers.
@danlaflamme9372Ай бұрын
Ty..need to buy one, have zero turn..

I bought this years ago. I had to add hydraulic oil to the jack itself. Worked fine after that.

Maybe pull the pins out, pull forward into the lift and then put the pins back in.🤷🏻
