A better product at half the cost? Sounds too good to be true. The new Badlands 3-ton Off-Road Jack from Harbor Freight has captured the attention of off-road enthusiasts everywhere in the last few months. Since its release at the 2022 SEMA Show, it’s been creating waves in the industry for it’s uncanny resemblance to the well-established Pro Eagle “Kratos” 3-ton jack. While it’s no secret that Harbor Freight is known for releasing products with very similar designs and characteristics to its competitors, and offering them at much lower costs, it’s rare that these products exceed their competition in quality and performance.
But is this new Badland Jack is an exception? On this episode of Chasing Dust, Matt compares the new Harbor Freight Jack to the Pro Eagle 3-ton. On paper, the Jack is better in almost every way, but can it hold up to the abuse and needs of an avid off-road enthusiast? Matt goes over both jack’s specifications, their features and benefits, and then tests the jacks in several real-world scenarios to demonstrate how they both work and how they compare.
While most people will form their own opinions, it’s hard to argue with something that works so well for half the cost of the closest competition. If you’re in the market for a new off-road floor jack, and are having trouble determining which one is best to suit your needs, we hope this video will help in your decision.

The ProEagle lift pad and Acc are way nicer, the cool part is that ProEagle sells the lift pad that will fit on the Harbor freight jack so you can use all the of ProEagle Acc.

I picked mine up when HF was doing their 10/20% off sale right before Christmas. They hadn't even put the jack out on the floor yet, but I managed to get one from the back and got it for 20% off as well. I have to say though, I was impressed with the build quality of it as well as the attention to detail when it came to the mount for holding the riser when not in use, and the lock for making moving it so much easier. I don't plan to beat it up and take it on the trail, I just got it for a garage jack for my Jeep Gladiator since it had the highest reach on it.

I think it’s fairly easy for HF to have a the same if not better product and at a lower cost. In my opinion ProEagle started from an idea and came up with a off-road jack. HF possibly reversed engineered the ProEagle and added some features. ProEagle only does off-road jacks while HF has 1,000s of products they sell. ProEagle can’t afford to lower their price to compete directly with HF jack.

Enjoy seeing "VS" reviews where the guy actually picks one instead of the typical "they're both good In their own way...." BS.

I'm disappointed you did the "10 pump" comparison instead of actually maxing out the lift height of each jack and measuring it with the tape. You also didn't show the different saddle extension positions and speak to how those compare between the two jacks. Thanks for the review, it just seemed a bit abbreviated to me.

What about durability? Customer service? Warranty? Those are other things to consider when purchasing these.

I've always needed an offroad jack for my wheeling days, and while my hobby is already expensive enough, a $300 price difference is extreme in my eyes. The Kratos always caught my eye, but at $600, it's a major overcharge. Save the money and buy a badlands.

The question is.... can you strap it to the back of a Trophy Truck in a pit and run 200 miles and it still work? I think that will be the real test with the Badlands jack, how long will it last and will it be durable enough for extreme conditions. Overall it was a great non biased review of both the jacks. I am a day 1, Pro Eagle supporter as they are company who have given SO much to the off-road community. It is without a doubt a bummer Harbor Freight would take their design and undercut them by 50%. #supporthosewhosupportus

can you do that with a proeagle? cuz we just put about 40 miles on a prerunner and needed the proeagle jack that was strapped to it and it didnt work. the pin securing the u joint to the release valve rod had fallen out so you couldnt tighten the release valve via the jack handle in order to jack the jack up....

@@marcelnunez3525 Yeah Will Heaton's Trophy Truck race jack fell off during the midnight special and we ratchet strapped my pro eagle to his spare tire and ran another 120 miles. I still use it today.

Great video Matt! I’m a cheapskate so definitely going Badlands but if I had the money to spare, I’d get a Pro Eagle as well.

@@dustysummit3900 youve had better luck with them than me thats forsure. ive encountered 3 that didnt work in my day. my 6 year old HF jack that lives on the back of my prerunner outdoors saved the day this last time...thats enough for me to chose which brand.

Shafting the off-road community with products made in China isn’t what I would consider “supporting” our community. It’s a floor Jack.. this “technology” that has been around for literally centuries, they put big plastic wheels and an extension on it woohoo. Reality is It was only a matter of time til someone noticed and does exactly this. Capitalism wins again.

A lot of butthurt people in the comments. At least you can buy an extended warranty and easy replacement if you have issues with the HF. How much would it cost and the hassle of getting a replacement if you have issues with the overpriced ProEagle?
