There is something fascinating about combining railways and ships, at least in my mind. I'm currently building two layouts based around transferring freight from the railway to ships, one in N gauge, with a large commercial dock (10 feet in length) and one in 1/35 scale with a 2 foot gauge railway loading river barges.
