F-Zero GX is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. I have spent many hours just training to be faster, snake smarter, shift boost better, MTS sharper, etc. It is one of the Gamecube's gems, one I find to go underappreciated. I am glad that it is being given some recognition here.

Nah, X was just grandprix, so normal races, if you have fundementals you can beat it. GX story mode had many different objectives that made it more difficult on very hard.

HaxorViper Once you get the pattern down, and know what to do, the story mode scenarios are doable, at least. In F zero X, the cars are 10x harder to control, and the relentless Ai don't let up.

Dude, this game was insane. I remember playing this as a kid and literally crying out of frustration that I couldn't beat certain things (and I considered myself a good "gamer"). Oh man I remember how painful Chapter 3 was. I got stuck there for so long, and that track's song playing in Smash gives me PTSD. Also, Chapter 1 isn't that bad normally. But on "Very Hard" mode... it's a different story. And guess what mode you have to beat to unlock all the secret characters? I can't see Chapter 8 now without thinking of that AMAZING AGDQ run, where the runner gave Deathborn a 1 and a half lap head start and still destroyed him.

I love this game dearly. Fantastic video, I can promise you I wouldn't go back to play this mastapiece as much as I do if it wasn't for the high difficulty ceiling because once you become very good at the game, you want/need a high challenge in order for the gameplay to remain engaging. I would like a new *half racing half action-based F-Zero game* that works as follows: *Racing part:* Similar to F-Zero GX in terms of gameplay, but with updated visuals and newer tracks, but importantly, I want a *unique special boost/ability* that each individual vehicle can perform after filling a meter or collecting enough power-ups. *Action part:* Similar to old Spiderman games in terms gameplay, where you can roam in Mute City (whether by foot or using Blue Falcon), fighting bad guys on the street or even doing missions (since Captain Falcon was also known as a bounty hunter and has showed some aspects of that in the F-Zero anime) with a small story section where Captain Falcon has to put a stop to the evil schemes of *Black Shadow* of destroying the whole universe or something like that.

For example, in other racing anime series such as "Dash Machine Hayabusa" or say "Bakuso Kyodai Lets & Go!!", each car had its OWN SPECIAL ABILITY and thus each of them felt UNIQUE and DIFFERENT in a way. For example, they could have done the following: 1. Falcon's Boost Fire: The machine turns into a giant FIRE FALCON which boosts the machine's SPEED to its MAXIMUM, thus making it useful in the STRAIGHT LINE parts of the racing track. 2. Ryu's Boost Fire: As in the anime series, the machine turns into a SPINNING TOP which makes the machine turn very SWIFTLY, thus making it useful in SHARP CORNERS of the racing track (which is what Ryu did to beat Falcon the first time). 3. Black Fire: The machine is surrounded by a giant shield (or turns into a giant Black Bull Aura-like creature) and DESTROYS whatever is in its path. Also, I think that other machines which did NOT have the Reactor Might in the anime series should ALSO have had their own special moves. For example, for Sonic Phantom, its special ability, when activated at a certain point, could be making the machine invisible/ghost (i.e. Let's & Go power-up style).

Honestly, after hearing you talk about it on Twitter... or on stream, I really like the format of this video. Taking hard games you've struggled with, and describing the challenges each section of the game brought and if you did manage to succeed or fail. It was a very entertaining way to do videos, and I really would like to see more like this one in the future.

Dracomut The F-Zero series was pretty successful actually. Sure it didn’t sell millions like Mario, Zelda or Pokémon but, as you said, it’s a niche series, so does it really have too? I mean, many of Nintendo’s other beloved IP’s such as Star Fox, Metroid, Earthbound, and Pikmin are also pretty niche. They also happen to not sell millions, therefore becoming neglected. I guess you can’t really blame them though. Just take a look at the best selling games on their consoles. It’s always Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Smash.... ....same exact thing every time. So I suppose it makes sense that they only want to make games on series that they know for sure will make tons of money. It really sucks, but it’s reasonable. Seeing as Metroid Prime 4 is happening, I hope this means Nintendo begins prioritizing what the smaller yet highly devoted fans want, and maybe we’ll get a new F-Zero, and hope to god, a Star Fox game that isn’t the same exact story again.

If they make an HD remake of GX (please do, Nintendo), I do want them to keep the awkward movements and hilariously bad voice acting from the original. That in combination with the music that sometimes just isn’t exactly tonally right for the scene makes the cutscenes a lot more entertaining. Especially Chapter 6 (titled Black Shadow, which is the speed bomb one).

I remember I was fortunate enough to find an F-Zero AX machine and unlock Pink Spider through that and eventually beat Chapter 7 on Very Hard months later lol

Master difficulty in the GP is a breeze compared to the nightmare of story mode on very hard. The first 3 chapters are about all the leeway you’ll get, even on the very hard difficulties.
