I'm a critical care nurse, and the vast majority of our Hospitalist are awesome! They really do have to do the majority of the work and deserve mad props! A lot of times all that stands between a patient and death are a good hospitalist and hopefully a good nurse. IMHO they should make triple what they do (but then again, so should good nurses)!

@ZDoggMD: As a nursing student about to graduate I agree that MD's get the short end of the stick when it comes to works/school cost : salary. And this is from someone who is still paying of $80,000 from my nursing school! Doctos have my eternal respect and gratitude. I get to go home at the end of a shift and not be on call. I have had the good fortune to work with some amazing docs. So rock (I mean rap) on!

You're lucky. I'm a nurse and I get called into work on most of my days off. You're right though. You couldn't pay me enough to be a doctor. It's pretty brutal.

@ZDoggMD OMG!!!!! LMFAO.... EVERYSINGLE line you mention in your tune is 1000000 % spot on. Damn I though I was the only one that felt that way...... LOL at the ortho bombs and the ER calling for another syncope admit. Oh yeah and housetaff always trying to sign off of patients cause they are about to hit their cap. Anyways awsome vid, cant chat any longer . I have to go and write some more notes.

I went to the ER last week early in the day for a chronic condition that didn't feel so benign at the time. All but one nurse were unbelievably kind and patient. I have chronic pain, so when asked for a pain number, I said 6, but turned down pain medicine. The doc asked a second time later if I needed pain meds, but I told him that it wasn't out of the ordinary, so no. Meanwhile, I heard a young man screaming for pain meds for his muscle spasm. I was given appropriate care for the condition, and the doc even laid his hand on his shoulder and told me that he was glad that I came in. His respect for me was as much medicine as the tablets they gave me. He spoke softly and looked directly at me. That's a good doctor.

The median hospitalist salary is 252,000. This makes hospitalists in the 1st percentile of income in the US. I get that being a doc is hard and there is lots of student loan debt (I'm in the six figures in debt myself) but it seems insensitive to complain about this.
@siefer2099 жыл бұрын
Sophiyba 350k in loans at 7% interest isn't complaining.
@austincuprak29 жыл бұрын
+Sophiyba you may have six figures of debt yourself (which means you went to a private school likely if your not a doc) but unless your a doc - your not on call and likely not going to be sued...your the one being insensitive!
