HAPPY NEW YEAR! We're working very hard to get back on the water and only took a day off over the Christmas period! Videos on our new Dyneema rig, paint job (we did the whole thing by hand) and installation of our new deck fittings coming soon, I've just got to find the time to edit them between boat projects! As always thanks for subscribing, liking and commenting. If you're interested in supporting the continuation of our productions, here's a link: www.freerangesailing.com/support-our-videos Cheers Pascale

Been following your channel for a while and appreciate all the detail you include when carrying out repairs and re-fits. It makes good sense in all cases to do it right and maintain integrity and reliability in all the small and large works. I appreciate it even more when I watch other channels of couples doing the 'yacht world thing' and see the inevitable repairs and refits that they all do. All I can think of is 'what were they thinking?' 'That will be a problem in two months!'.........Troy would do it proper!!!!! They need to watch your channel. Great work, keep it up.

The two of you make an awesome team. You kids are one classy duel, What a fine job you kids have done. In all my years I've wanted to learn how to make things using fiberglass. But never had anyone to show me how it's done. And in my younger days there was no You Tub or internet to learn from and I ain't much good at book learning. I learn by someone showing me while I do it. I can set in a class with a book for hours and learn not much. BUT put me in a work space and let me get my hands on something and I'll learn how it done in the matter of minutes.... But now at my time in life all those things are long past. I now get to enjoy watching the amazing things y'all create..

I had to read up on PVC foam board after watching your video. The stuff is brilliant! So many possible applications on an old sailboat. Old rotted cap rails comes to mind. Shape them out of PVC board and vacuum bag them in glass. Thanks for the video!

Hi Troy and Pascale, Two years ago I was preparing to head north for a year or two, and age and wisdom dictated I finally should build the dodger I had not needed when I built my Huon Pine yacht 40 years ago. In searching the net for ideas I found your wonderfully filmed and narrated videos on exactly how to do what I wanted. I meant to comment way back then, but I was getting ready to go sailing so put it off... Now I am back home in Tassie and enjoying watching your delightful and informative videos from the start and have no reason to put of commenting any longer. Put simply, I followed your method step by step and made myself a perfect solid dodger in two weeks. It has changed life aboard for the better and I am very pleased with its performance and strength. Since then I have cruised around Tasmania and up to the Whitsundays and back and to Port Davey and back at a very leisurely pace, enjoying all the little bays and anchorages I have sailed past in the past. Thanks heaps for making it so easy for me to build in a material I had never used before using methods I didn't know existed until I saw you use them. A great instructional video. Well done! Best wishes

You channel is actually better than anything on the tele now days. Great camera angles and sound editing. Being someone that has issues with volume change I really like your sound quality. I know the work that goes into your weekly and really appreciate and enjoy you videos. I also love flapper discs and flaper wheels last alot longer and work time is greatly reduced.

Fantastic job Troy and Pasquale. It looks like it was made to be there. Very impressed with the detail. All the refit work is very impressive. But only half as impressive as the way you two have dealt with being together 24/7. Happy, peaceful, thoughtful, intelligent and caring people. There is hope for humanity yet.

I find that ordinary cheap white vinegar is good to use for removing amine blush from CURED epoxy surfaces. Then rinse with fresh water. Your explanations and how-to guides is EXCELLENT advice for those trying to improve their boating life. That is the BEST dodger I have seen made--and the explanations were great.

I think I would finish your head that you've had torn apart for a year, or the bottom paint, or the topsides paint, or the dorades, or the stanchions, or the toerail, before you start thinking about adding a bar, yes? You've been in the yard for over a year. Do you have any of the above (that you yourself said you were going to do) done? Or perhaps you just wanna be one of those dudes who lives in a boatyard handing out unsolicited advice to the real sailors trying to get work done? The guy who always talks about getting his boat ready to sail around the world some day, blah, blah, blah. Yep, every yard that I've ever been in that allows liveaboards has a guy like you. Looks like you're that guy.

Great episode you two!! I just wanted to say I've learned alot about fiber repair from ya all, my sons carbon fiber subframe on his dirtbike broke a mounting tab off and had a couple cracks as well. I ordered some carbon fiber and epoxy and we made an excellent repair using the techniques learned from watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge, I just wanted you to know its not for nothing many of us are applying what your teaching in our everyday lives.. THANK YOU!!!

Impressive! Of all your upgrades the hard dodger takes the cake. It is quite "smart" (as they say in Australia, and Pascale states often - in a good way!). It almost puts Maroole into a different category in terms of aesthetics. You have a sweet "ride" now, whereas before it was all about efficiency.
