Yep, I agree with you on both hard and soft bags. I have tusk hard and soft for my Africa Twin. The Tusk soft bags have a metal mounting plate that the bag stays strapped to, then I can quickly mount or unmount the soft bags as easily as the hard case. However, you must have the Tusk rack for this to work. I use the hard case for day rides, and the soft bags for traveling. A plus for me is that I can stuff more in the soft bag than I can the hard case. Another con on the hard case is that they can do some damage to feet and ankles, I know from personal experience.

Good to hear from you sir. Yes they do have some pretty cool mounting options these days for the soft bags but I am to tight to spend much on a set... Thanks for watching... keep safe out there.. :)

Agree about the damage to the legs especially if the bike happens to fall on you.

I like hard cases for asphalt (commuting, shopping and around town) for security. If i did heavy off road and camping i would run soft luggage. Stay safe!

Nice work on the case repair! Another option to keep the cost down on the hard cases is Ebay...Just got a "scratch and dent" matched set of GIVI TRK33's for $350 in the original packaging-unused. They're as good as new for half the price. YMMV however...

An issue with hard cases is your leg and/or get caught under the case and severely injured. My AT is trick out for adventure riding. I purchased a CB500X and set it for adventure riding with Rally Raid equipment and T-Rex guards and skid plate. Then for it I purchased Mosko Moto soft luggage. I use the AT for road touring with a road friendly tires and hard case as a security reasons.

I havecthe SW Motech Trax Adventure bags that came stock on my 2019 V Strom 1000xt Adventure . Thinking about a set of less expensive soft luggage, for trail use. Trying to decide between the Tusk Pilo and Nelson Rigg new Hurricane series. I agree, there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I've used both and I definitely prefer the soft bags. I use the Tusk Pilot also and am really liking them. For the type of riding we do the soft bags are safer too. If you don't have the water bottle holders for them I would highly recommend them. Gives some extra storage for tools and such

Good to hear from you sir, Yes the Tusk bags are pretty hard to beat for the money. I only have 1 bottle holder but I need to get another one for sure... thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)

Good video Jon. Seem to remember that fall in NC?😂 I am going to have to look into some of those Tusk bags for my Pan America. Hope to see you soon.

Hey there sir... looked like you all had fun out in Colorado... I am cooking up a ride down to Lafayette LA to eat some seafood and take a few rides down on the coast... maybe a ride out to Grand Isle. Let me know if that is something you might be interested in doing... probably wait till September for some cooler weather... :)

Good video, Jon. Nice review! Currently the only bike I have without bags is the XR650L. I'm thinking soft bags could be a good option for that bike. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I have been watching for awhile and enjoy your videos. I currently have a vstrom as well and I have been curious why you have the tiger and the Suzuki. They are still different bikes but are similar enough for me to ask why you have both, and do you prefer one over for specific task.

Hello there sir, good to hear from you. I really can't say how I ended up with the two bikes I currently have. Bikes come and go but I can say that they are both really great motorcycles and I am glad to have owned them both. The V-Strom is a great all around bike that is easy and comfortable to ride but it comes up short on off road missions when the going gets a little bit more rough so I prefer the Tiger for the more adventurous off road rides. The Tiger is pretty good on and off road so if I could only have one of the two I would probably have to go with the Tiger. Thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)

Morning Jon, My wife and I enjoyed your review of the hard and soft luggage. But I have a question. What is the large black yube you have mounted in the inside of your luggage rack?

Hello there sir, good to hear from you. That is a tool tube I believe you are referring to. I have one on both of my bikes right now. You can check it out here.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWiam3VjYqeWbq8 Thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)
