Can I ask which is the comfiest bike that you have owned?
@ozarksbackroads548421 сағат бұрын
Well that is a tough one there... the Yamaha FJR's are pretty comfortable but the reach to the bars is a bit of a stretch and the leg room is short with a sharp bend in the knee. My Tiger is pretty good, I have the comfort seat on it but I still find the seat gets uncomfortable after half a day on it or so. The Versys 1000 I had was quite good with good leg room and good wind protection. I had a nice touring seat on mine and that bike was quite good. The Ibex 800T that I have now is really comfortable for all day rides with pretty good wind protection, a nice bar position and good leg room. I would say it may be a toss up between the Ibex and the Versys for me... :)

Jon do you like your tiger. I have a V strom 650 and Im thinking about upgrading mine to a tiger 900 and doing the TAT next year. Thoughts and opinion would be nice to have.
@ozarksbackroads54842 күн бұрын
Good to hear from you sir, The TAT sounds like an epic adventure for sure. I love my Tiger but I love it warts and all... In my opinion the Tigers have one glaring flaw and that is the rake angle of the forks. They are all around 24 degrees which is too steep of an angle to track well through loose stuff like mud and sand and creek gravel. To track well and be manageable in deep sand and gravel a bike needs a rake angle of around 27 degrees or more. The Tigers will try and cross up the handle bars in those conditions. Also you might seriously consider a bike with a high front fender so mud won't pack up on the front tire and lock up the front wheel.. The trip across Oklahoma is notoriously muddy with that sticky mud that packs up on the tires. Of course the lighter the bike the easier the trip will be. The Tiger however would be a considerable upgrade over the V-Strom with it's 21 inch front tire and much superior suspension travel. If you can live with the on road comfort level of the Yamaha T7 it would be a far superior TAT option over the Tiger but you don't get cruise and some of the creature comforts with the T7. I personally would check into the new Enfield 450 Himalayan or the CFMOTO Ibex450 that is shipping this month to the US. But you may want a larger displacement engine than those.. I can understand that... What ever you end up on I am sure it will be a trip you will remember for the rest of you life... good luck and thanks for watching... :)

@ozarksbackroads54847 күн бұрын
Hey there sir, good to hear from you. I changed my stock chain when the bike was brand new. I went with a heavy duty RK X-Ring chain and a new JT rear sprocket with a few less teeth. I am still on the original front sprocket at 10800 miles. I can usually get around 14,000 or 15,000 miles out of a front sprocket on my Tiger and I imagine the Ibex will be similar.... Thanks for watching... :)

Glad you made it through the flood, and the ride, with no problems. I can only imagine 14 inches of rain around here; my condo would probably be floating down the Tennessee River! Btw, I like the sound of a Baja trip, though I'd have to brush up on my Spanish as well. It's been 50 years since Spanish I as a high school freshman (which I just barely passed). Keep up the good work and be careful out there.

Great video and thanks from all of us that are going to tackle this job at some point. I recently purchased a 2024 Ibex 800 Explore here in Canada and was worried about the KTM cam issue when I wrote the cheque for it. Glad to see your motor looks good and hopefully mine will be the same when I cross that bridge (9 km so far on the gage, and it's snowing already, lol!). I would like to see your next video show "how to" adjust the clearance if required, that's all that was missed. Any guidelines/suggestions for suspension setup not covered in the manual or do you follow their recommendations? Thanks for you video, they are a pain to produce and really slow the process down when you are just trying to complete a task ... well done!
@ozarksbackroads54849 күн бұрын
Good to hear from you sir, Congrats on your new ride. I am sure your bike will be fine as well. I really have not made many adjustments on my suspension on the Ibex. I have added a couple of turns of preload to the rear spring to help with all the gear I usually carry and that is about it... I find the factory damping settings to be pretty good. Enjoy that new bike and thanks for watching... :)

That Bluff looks similar to the 'Turtle Rocks' at Petit Jean State Park further Southest in Arkansas. There are a lot of iron deposits that make the rocks look smooth/rounded. Ponca also has a visitor's center that focuses on the Elk in the area...and they have clean restrooms.
