Ahh I love the den! I understand the inside of the den is unfinished but I’d like to suggest a few things: 1. Sunlight The depth and elevation of the den, depends how far the sunlight reaches. But I’d still think a little sunlight would make it feel a little cozier. 2. Padding Something comfy for the pups especially when they are still very young and the mother is needed to stay in the den with them most of the time would add a bit of realism to the dens, my suggestion is loose dirt or grass. I’m not really sure how thepadding works for a wolf but I’m sure loose dirt is a big contributor to comfort. I’d also like to suggest a bit more time with the pups in gameplay. Such as handling them straight from birth. This would help the player feel more attached to the pups. In the old game we are given the pups right when they are old enough to get out of the den and immediately from there we are protecting them from danger, feeding them, when we hadn’t even known them for long. I’d also really like to have the option to pick a den for my pups and see inside the den and get some time to get used to the territory before having pups. In the old game when we pick a den, we are asked to mark and them get pups immediately. I’d like this to change in the new game. That way we aren’t scrambling to find everything among choosing the den. Instead we can relax knowing we have a place to call home for the pups and get used to the area before bringing pups in. This’ll also help us get in the habit of marking a den. Then we as the players can decide when to have our pups. Either by choice, or by winter. What I mean by choice or by winter, is there are two ways deciding when to have pups could work. The first way is players can choose whenever to have pups and the seasons will pass on their own time. Meaning the players could have pups in whatever season they want, with the exception that food may be less or more and heat may be harsher or not depending on when they decide to have pups. And the players will just have to be careful about when they have pups themselves. (In this case pregnancy could also be a process but I don’t know how well that would go since this game does involve kids to play. Still pregnancy could offer a struggle and bond towards the pups as the player struggles to keep themselves and their pups alive. Plus it would make choosing when to have them differ between when to decided to have them, versus when they are actual,y born.) The other way this could work is that players are given a choice to have pups in a certain season. (In which case the season being whatever season pups are born or created.) meaning that when that season comes around, players have to choose either to have pups now, or wait until next year, in which they actually have to live out the year. This could be a better option for players who like the idea of enjoying slough creek and then choosing in their own time when to have pups. If they miss the season, they miss it and they will just have to accept the fact they will have to wait. Either that or take the risk and have the pups anyways, making survival harder when not in the preferred time.(but I think this option to have them anyways is better suited in the first one since the preferred season still exists) These are just suggestions and something that would definately take longer to do, but I think these factors would play a big part in raising pups and perhaps make the experience of raising computer operated Wolf pups in a game more entertaining and fun. The old game system of raising pups felt too rushed to me, and I felt like I didn’t really get a bond with my pups that I should’ve. Whenever they died I just moved on and tried to help the few I had, survive. The only time I really felt bad for losing my pup is if it’s name was meaning ful to me(example, the name of a friend or family member, or a name I really liked). Wolfquest anniversary edition has great potential. And with a few big updates and reworking of old systems in the game, it could be the best animal simulation game out there and even better than it already is. My comment may be a bunch of suggestions that would take years worth of work, but I hope you and your team still considers and reads this comment. As difficult as these suggestions would be to make, they would be worthwhile and last a long time. And hey, we players have already waited so long just for the first episode of the game. We’d be willing to wait even longer if it promised more heart and realism in the game ❤️. Keep it up Wolfquest!

My KZbin Diaries 123 well as the wolf biologists say: “A wolf’s home is its body.” In other words: adult wolves aren’t really bothered by rain and snow. They don’t need shelter as much as a human does. That’s why dens are mainly for the pups, because they need to be sheltered and protected from predators. Besides for the pups: adult wolves don’t really have a use for them. Their fur is enough.

A more general suggestion I thought of is having various natural shelters for our wolves to sit or sleep in, things like under an outcrop of rock or a fallen tree that got propped on something as it fell, things that aren’t necessarily dens but offer some form of shelter. Wolves in real life might be fine enduring the elements, but I think I speak for multiple people when I say it’d be nice to have our wolves get out of the snow and rain sometimes. It’d be nice in slough creek, like having a little shaded spot under some rock to watch you pups play, or even in amethyst to snuggle with your mate. In regards to the pups themselves, I think it’d be great to play in their earlier weeks, even if they don’t do much. It’d also be nice if you could choose when to advance to the actual pups, rather than jumping straight to them after marking your territory. Like having a prompt when you approach your den asking if you’d like to have pups. These are just some suggestions I’ve been mulling over. The game is fantastic and I can’t wait to see what new things slough creek brings!

Maybe, since we can go into the den, we can have an early pup stages were the mom (the play or AI) needs to go into the den to see the newborn pups for a few minutes before going out and doing a few wolf duties before having to go back for another pup feeding. Just an idea I'm throwing out there. This all looks great!

While making the den I had flashbacks of me doing the same in Sims 3 for my Warrior Cats story lol it's so fun to see the creative process! It looks really great and the pups look so adorable! I’m so astonished by all the detail and inspiration put into this! Wow! I’m loving it! WolfQuest you are amazing! And I must say despite the small spaces of the den interiors, it’s still exciting the look forward to, and dens are mostly like this because it’s supposed to have a safe interior for the pups, so that it can be difficult for most predators to notice or even reach them, still liking the fact that we can go in and use it as a nice place to rest after a hard day of huntin!

So are we going to be scouting out the area looking for a safe place to raise pups (the many dens created) without them being only a few options to make it realistic??? That way you could feel like a real wolf and need to really test out each area to see if it'd be safe or not. Like, based off 2.7, maybe if you chose a tree den and there was a storm, there'd be a small chance of your den burning down and needing to leave. But probably only chances of disasters in accurate

Suggestion could be to have the wolves, dig out the location, so like a digging animation, wolves burrow their dens into the ground, so it would be awesome to see the player's seeking out a suitable and secure location to have their pups and then have to dig it out.

Beaver hunting interests me. Since beavers are, well aquatic, you’d probably have to be really quiet and wait for the perfect moment to grab one from the shore or maybe shallow water. Also that pup at the beginning is precious.

You are right! Wolves that hunt beavers do it by ambush when the beavers are on land. A wolf can lay in wait for hours on a beaver trail hoping to get a lucky moment. We are trying to think about how that would be fun in game LOL.

Gosh, it's so impressive! The amount of work you and the rest of the WolfQuest team put into this game is absolutely incredible and I honestly couldn't be more excited for a game!! The graphics are STUNNING, the animal behavior?? SO good, and we can't forget that it isn't even DONE yet! So many other features are underway and I'm so excited for them! I just had an idea. What if there was a part of the game where you play as the male wolf of the family? Like before the pups were weaned and you bring the female food and your character was female you switch back after the weaning stage??? That would be pretty cool but it’s just an idea and I think it’d be cool but I’m not sure how making games works so idk if it’d be possible I hope this doesn’t put pressure on y’all it’s only a idea. The fact that you actuall made a realistic den where the wolf can go inside is so cool. This game has improved so much and the wait was totally wort it. You are all amazing at creating this game, its mind blowing. People who don't know about this game are really missing out on all the fun.
