Hard steering 2015 Volvo VNL steering drive shaft "U- joint" replacement

reason for replacing is because of hard steering, especially while in law speed trying to turn left or right. From the video "you" can see the U joint connecting the steering box it got a lot of resistance, while the one close to the steering wheel it was to lose (the robber boot around the U joint was busted)

Very nice video, perfect. I’m replacing them now and the u joints only cost me $40. Volvo wants $900 for whole steering shaft cauze they don’t sell them seaparate, of course they are not dumb to make $40 ahen they can make $900. Part number is 482212-B brand is Neapco. thank you again for this video

@Jeremy Higdon this is usually for really hard steering .Your problem may be a different one. Compare the steer shuft with same model by grabbing it and see the amount of play. If yours is to hi (to loose)on the side of the gear box you'll see a big not with a pin in the middle of the nut. it have a gap for screw driver . Loose the not , and screw the pin left or right , by checking the shaft for the play. You want the play to feel some resistance, not all loose and crazy.

My 2008 Volvo D13 is doing the same thing. Hard to steer at low idle speed when turning corners and trying to back into a dock. No power steering leaks and no grinding noises. Can this be the same problem described in this video?

Yes you can replace the u-joint but you can't replace the wobble middle part of the shaft.

Thanks. Today i looked up mine. Its 07 Volvo with ZF gear and its totally different u joint. More square-ish and smaller. Might not be serviceable :/

If it s to loud, check your power steering pump, or at least if you have enough fluid, in the reservoir.
