A lot of people picked up the mistaken idea that "Hard to Handle" is a Janis Joplin song from watching Courtney's audition on AGT, where Howie Mandel compared her with Janis. Howie was reacting to her style and her voice, not the song, which is by Otis Redding. Similarly, a year earlier on "The Voice Kids UK," will.i.am compared Courtney with Janis Joplin after she sang Tina Turner's "Nutbush City Limits." It's never about the song Courtney is singing, it's about the similarity of Courtney and Janis in voice and style.

Once again, amazing woman with wow voices. I love her with her style. And hope someday she can sing her own songs. Good job, and I love you and your voices

Nice cover. Courtney Hadwin is amazing. The true voice of a lifetime, across multiple genres including Rock, Funk, Soul, R&B, Ballads and more. She even had an opera clip that went viral. You should check out her original music. It’s even more spectacular than her covers. I suggest ‘Breakable’, ‘That Girl Don’t Live Here’, ‘Call Me Back’ and ‘Monsters’. All are on her YT channel

This is an Otis Redding song. Courtney based her version on the cover by the Black Crows in the 90's.

No offense intended, but she based hers on Etta James version, most famously performed in 1982 with 'The Grateful Dead'. AGT didn't have a tape of that on-hand and used their tape of The Black Crowes version of the music. But Ms. Courtney was singing Etta's version, and had to adapt it a tad to the actual music tape AGT had available and used for her performance. One of the many things I hate about AGT is their 'karaoke machine' music without live musicians. The Voice is a MUCH better franchise, IMHO. Ms. Courtney appeared on season one of 'The Voice Kids' (UK), in fact her blind audition was on first or second day iirc. Coaches were still getting used to juggling turning for voices they loved and worrying about not filling up their team limits only to have no slots left when some amazing singer might show up on the last day. Listen to the coaches after they got backstage saying it was their own fault they didn't turn. Plus, this was their first time going from performer role to coach role, which is WAY DIFFERENT.

Ummm, could you PLEASE do a bit of research first before posting? This song, "Hard to Handle" is, as a simple search of Wikipedia could have informed you, "...a 1968 song written by American soul singer Otis Redding along with Al Bell and Allen Jones. Originally recorded by Redding, it was released in 1968 as the B-side to 'Amen' (shortly after the singer's sudden death in 1967)." Otis and his band died in December of '67 flying in his private airplane to their next gig. They'd recorded this song, but had not yet released it. Ms. Courtney Hadwin is a huge fan of Ms. Etta James and Mr. James Brown, amongst many other rock, blues, and soul singers from the 1960's. Growing up with KZbin, she found all this great music when she was still a pre-teen, along with Ms. Tina Turner (upon whom she seems to be patterning her work life habits), Ms. Janice Joplin, and so many more great singer-songwriters. Ms. Etta James adapted the lyrics and delivery of this song for a female protagonist, and she most famously covered this song with 'The Grateful Dead' in 1982. That's the version COURTZ sang on AGT. PLEASE DON'T LET THE GREAT OTIS REDDING AND HIS BAND BE SO EASILY FORGOTTEN! On AGT, Howie Mandel was reminded of Ms. Janis Joplin when he witnessed Ms. Courtney Hadwin singing this song, because COURTZ reminded him so much of the infamous performances of the mostly unknown Janis Joplin during the 'Summer of Love' and especially at the Monterey Music Festival where she became infamous. Howie (and Simon) called Mr. Clive Davis to tell him of this most amazing young girl who seemed so much like that young Janis whom Clive had signed at the real start of his career's rise as preeminent record label finder of amazing talent. As far as I've been able to discover, Janis never did perform a cover of this song. Or if she did, my Google-fu has failed in trying to find it. If you like Ms. Courtney Hadwin's music and performances, you might appreciate her most recent cover of 'Piece of My Heart' which was most famously covered by Janis Joplin in 1968 (written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns) after it was originally performed and recorded by Erma Franklin (sister of Aretha) in 1967. Here's a link to a fan mashup video of a number of clips introducing how this performance at Carnegie Hall for Clive Davis occured, and the full performance itself via fan video from balcony mixed in with what little 'official' video has been released to Ms. Courtney for her use. Apparently no other official video of this whole The New York Pops 41st Birthday Gala is going to be released, so this is what we've got. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l17PaZeefsyiepI Also, you might appreciate the short treat Ms. Courtney dropped for her fans last Friday, a single, 'JAGGED' that's streaming everywhere. It's FAST and furious hard rock at it's best, by Ms. Courtney Hadwin, our COURTZ: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXSVq5-HmLGSmNU I do appreciate others emulating our amazing COURTZ, Ms. Courtney Hadwin, though frankly I doubt I'll hear anyone come close to her amazing voice. I haven't heard another voice like that since the 1980s, though I first heard the like in the 1960's! Yeah, I'm an OLD fanboy.
