Thank you so much for taking the time to provide the lyrics to Bobby McGee. I used to have a pretty nice soprano voice, but now -- at 64 -- it's more of a husky alto. I love to sing, but I'm a shy perfectionist. I go to a karaoke place regularly with a group of young friends (in their 20s) who always encourage me to sing, but I've never been brave enough. I decided that this song will be my "debut" performance, but I need to practice at home before I dare go on stage. Sorry for the long explanation, but I wanted you to know that posting lyrics to a song can have benefits most people don't think of. Thank you from the bottom of my excited/nervous heart. You've made an important contribution to my happiness.❤

Saw the restaurant, Threadgills, which I understand was a launching pad for Janis Joplin's career, when visiting Austin a few years ago. "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose", when I hear this song I'm thinking as I get older n my faculties snuck away one by one, will I remember this song which has folded itself into my memory from youth, struggling to make ends meet and now older, losing physicality it still plays a part making sense for me. Scarey lyrics, haunting tune. A great songwriter.

My dear wife's favorite rock singer. We used to "argue" over whether Kris K. or Janice sang it better. Murph died 4 months ago after 55 beautiful years together. I always remember her and cry when I hear this. She's listening to Janice live again now.

Hard to believe anyone would or could say JJ was a one-hit wonder. She stands alone. Arguably the queen of Rock and Roll. So much passion and soulful expression. I have seen and heard alot, no one close to Janis.

I was born in 67 and Im so grateful to have been here during the 7os. My mom and I sang and danced to all her albums, among many other awesome artists. She would hold Janis's album in 1 hand and dust with the other, every Saturday. Love those memories of us 3!!

When I laid my best friend to rest in her grave, I heard Janis saying "all my tomorrows for one single yesterday" I cried harder than I had ever cried in my life. I was sobbing and remembering all the times she had kept me sane. Thank you Gracie, I'll never forget the unconditional love that you gave me. I hope that God may bless me with a love like yours again. People would say Gracie was ugly when they first saw her-but I would tell them she was the most beautiful thing I had ever known. And all this from an ugly cat who never turned away from me. If there's a heaven, I hope to see you again.

Two others I could think of that could push out that kind of pure unadultered energetic emotion: Tom Petty and Meatloaf. Slash and Jimmy Hendricks does (did in the case of Jimmy Hendricks) it on the guitar. Also, can't forget about Freddie Mercury!

This song was written by Kris Kristofferson about a female Bobbie who was a secretary at his managers office, you should look up his interview about it it's a good story, this was released after Janis died and made Kris famous, he didn't even know she was going to record it. She said wait until that son if a bitch hears this 😂
