Losing your job can be a very traumatic thing. You are young, talented and full of energy so you will survive. But still, I know the feeling of emptyness and sadness. This feeling that you are not wanted. I have been through this a few times and the worst was when I was a couple of years before my pension. Japanese girls: So cute Intelligent Joyful Humble Foreign friends? Nope! I think the main problem is, japanese people hang out with japanese people, and foreigners hang out with foreigners. Also it's not in their culture to walk up to a foreigner and talk, and when a foreigner does that, they are very reserved. The only way for them to make foreign friends is either from studying together, or working together, or if they go live abroad. I'm especially surprised though because this is the cosmopolitan Tokyo we're talking about, so if japanese girls in Shibuya, Shinjuku etc don't have foreign friends, imagine how it is in smaller cities!

Can’t say I was surprised with the results of your somewhat atypical sample of interviewees - actually no matter how you choose your sample I think the final result would be the same. Basically, the cultural differences between say, a Japanese girl and a European boy ( or vice versa ) are so great that a successful long term relationship in such a scenario would be extremely unlikely. It would seem that the wisdom your fans should gain from this week's video is that MOST young and attractive Japanese do not have many foreign friends primarily because they do not speak foreign languages. What is most remarkable about you, Miley, is that you speak English SO WELL even though you learned to speak English in high school English language classes (remarkable). So, you want a kawaii Japanese girlfriend then 1. Learn Japanese it's a difficult language. You may get the basic grammar but kanji will destroy you 2. Have a good stable job that pays good. If your poor you're then chances are slim 3. Tidy up like don't wear faded clothes, shave your facial hair, clean your surroundings, take a shower first before dipping in the onsen and pee sitting down. 4. Strong understanding of the Japanese culture. You have to read the air because they will not say things to you. When they say "yes" they mean "no" and vice versa. Good luck because you are going to need it.

Give up any notion of making friends with Japanese people?! 😛 I think unless you can speak enough Japanese to hold a reasonable conversation or the other person knows enough English to hold a conversation in English (which as you saw is very few) just exchanging a few lines of pleasantries isn't really going to form any meaningful friendship.
