This great troubadour was taken from us far too early. Love his music and it keeps me coming back ever so often to hear these beautiful lyrics and melodies. The words so powerful and speak to my heart and soul. Miss you Danny boy! ❤

I can remember seeing him one last time in May of 2003, and said to myself that something was so off, couldn’t get him off of my mind, I felt disappointed because that was definitely not the performance I had remembered from his previous concerts …I see here how he struggled , Then I saw he passed December 17, 2007.. I hope he was at peace when he passed ! Every single album/song remains etched in my teenage memories forever..🩵

Fogelberg was not performing in 2003. The musician never performed in a suit, and he was never heavy. Fogelberg's last concert ended in June 1999. He retired from the music industry in Fall 2001 after suffering a debilitating stroke. The musician Dan Fogelberg did not have prostate cancer. He did not announce prostate cancer in 2004. That's a fable by some delusional babe in Maine who never knew the man.

I was devastated when Dan passed and for several years could not listen to his music as it was just too hard for me. I only started listening again a few years ago and I'm glad I have. It brought back some of what I was missing. He was just that brilliant and special. You can hear Dan struggling here vocally. I had seen him a half dozen times in the years before, and you can hear his voice isn't as strong in this performance. Cancer is such a cruel disease. It takes away so much from the person who has it and from the people who love them. I lost both my parents to it.

My sisters and I live in Phoenix AZ. In 1975 my sister made me aware of Dan Fogelberg, and that was it, we were uber-fans, We traveled to CA, NV, NM, and CO. One Year we went to his concert 3 times. He was an American Master.

I was very saddened to hear of his death so many years ago now. One of the "Late Greats, Gone Too Soon"s. There were many of those, but, Dan's death hit me harder than most. I listened to his songs as a teenager, and then on into adulthood, they just kept coming, one great song after another. It's hard to choose a favorite Fogelberg song, because they were all so good! You are very much missed, Dan. RIP

I was introduced to Dan's music in1980, I was 23. Like you I loved Dan, his lyrics and his music. I have fond memories of that time - moving away from my home state to start a new life in another to join my high school sweetheart. ( knowing it would not last ) Sorry that he left us so soon....

Jean spread his ashes out over the inlet on Wednesday while sailing... as this was his wish. They glowed in the sunlight blowing gently across the waters. She said that it was the first nice day in several weeks of rain and cold...and floods that Maine is having. This (13th)was his birthday. She sent out a picture of the sunset that night....

I saw Dan on his acoustic/piano tour back in 1996/1997 and it was one of the most entertaining shows I’ve ever been to. I’m a musician and have been playing for 40 years, and so I know what I’m listening and looking for in terms of technique, I really at the time did not realize how talented Dan was as a musician. I knew his music and also knew he played guitar, keys, etc, but thought he was one that was good enough to use it as a songwriting tool, boy was I wrong. I already knew all his music, but it doubled my appreciation when I heard him play them just by himself. You are loved and missed brother Dan and I am a lifelong fan. 🙏 🎸 R.I.P.

This must have been one of his last public performances. He was diagnosed in 2004 with advanced prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones. His annual physical found it and he cancelled his tour. I know of no other singer/songwriter/musician who had the ability to reach each member of the audience on such an amazing level. I saw him 6 times in concert and was always in awe of what he was able to accomplish. He could even make the audience laugh. Now that is a well rounded and seasoned performer extraordinaire.

Does anyone find that it is still hard to grasp that Dan is gone? Does God take his angels at times very early? How could Dan not be an angel. Has anyone seen or have Dan's published book of his travels called Photographs? How nice it is?

He was what, 56 years old? George Harrison was only 58 when God took him. Yes, there are angels among us and often they go back to heaven too soon...or so we think. But God has a completely different plan. I'm just grateful for the MUSIC.

Has there been as talented a songwriter , musician ( blues , jazz , classical , bluegrass , hard and soft rock , pop ? ) I think not --- the early stuff and obscure for many who only know his " hits" is selling oneself VERY VERY short - dive deep into the well of artistry that was the ouevre of Dan Folgeberg - true artist . I thought it was from a different concert so I was always looking in the wrong places, but I remembered the comment he makes at the beginning about his first marriage disintegrating. If you read some of the scuttlebutt on line about some of his later live performances, he evidently had his tonsils removed in adulthood, prior to his prostate cancer diagnosis, and ever since lost both his vocal range and purity. I'd guess that accounts for what you hear or don't hear here.
