One thing Splat didn't mention, perhaps because he didn't notice it, is that it seems like traits are unlocked and applied depending on the hand you build for a character. So that a Flush unlocks one trait, while a four of a kind unlocks another. So not only do you want to give your posse members cards that buff stats you want them to be better at, but you also want to build an actual poker hand for them to give them the trait you want them to have.
@TimedRevolver2 жыл бұрын
If it works anything like the first game, certain card combos in the hand give a bonus. And some of them are pretty great. Might be changed here, but I doubt it. Traits seem to be level-tied, not card-based.

Dude, this game is just oozing theme. The trick shots, the cards, whiskey healing you *Chefs kiss*. Not to mention the good mechanical choices of luck and bravado. Really feels like an evolution of the genre instead of a stale rehash.

I played the first one, and I legitimately think that the luck system is the best thing to ever happen to the genre. The most frustrating part of any XCOM game is the swingy RNG, and ironically, a system called luck made everything feel wonderfully consistent in Hard West. With a bigger budget, the first one would have been a real masterpiece. I'd love to see similar systems appear in other similar games.

I played the first one a while back. If I remember correctly the Luck in that game was kinda like armor, in that damage was first applied to luck then when your luck ran out you'd almost be a one tap. It was a neat way to handwave characters in video games tanking multiple gunshots as the hits to luck were "near misses". It had a very limited progression system where you'd earn playing cards that could be attached to characters which would give them upgrades based on the "hand" they were dealt.
