Hey man. Just an FYI. Jordan already has a video like this for every instrument on his channel. Some may be before he had his BSA plugins but it gets you to the same place.

Would love to see a series of Magic Chains for different instruments. Thanks and happy new year!

Very easy and simple to follow. I usually get overwhelmed when some tutorials have like... greater than 5 plugins in their FX chain for one instrument.

Not to be the "know it all" guy, because I absolutely am not. But the SSL channel strips are not all built equally. I know he is meaning in general, and it doesn't matter as much here since he is using the Silencer plugin. However, the gate of the SSL channel strips can be quite a bit different from plugin to plugin. For example, the SSL gate is infamous for adding an amazing snap to the kick/snare (thank you Andy Wallace) when set correctly, however the Waves SSL plugin cannot achieve this "trick". Anyways, I just thought I'd share.

100%. Waves and the UAD SSL (what I use though I don't really use SSL at all) work very differently under the hood. This applies to most analog plugin emulations as I'm sure you know.

They also vary a lot on what the HPF actually is vs what the dial says.. plugin to plugin is much different

Do you feel the bx_console plugins that emulate ssl consoles do a good job at this snap and nice gating?? I only have the bx ones and they seem good, but now after reading your comment I’m curious to try others

This checklist is one of the best mixing checklists for learning the basics that I've seen online. I've been working at committing it to memory.

You didn't scoop out any 700-900Hz for the basketball sound? I find that I also usually have to cut out some around 170Hz or so, to gel with the bass guitar better.

Hey man! Love your channel so I have a question. I’m upgrading my studio monitors from krk + sub. Unfortunately no way i can get cla10 and ns10 would be very expensive because of the amp I’d need and also are unavailable. Only top shelf stuff here are genelecs, adams and dynaudio. I’ve been eyeing a 8030c and a 8020d for my 12x11 small room. I would love to know your thoughts. It would be very valuable to me!

I am actually wondering about silencer...how is the latency on it? Would it be viable to use in a live broadcast scenario?
@hardcoremusicstudioКүн бұрын
Seems like the latency is 1.5ms. So depending on the rest of your chain and the latency of your interface that could work

D112 is always a lot of work. Would never want to use that mic again.
@huberttorzewski8 күн бұрын
every kick mic needs different eq so there's not an ideal option. I like e602 but it's too boomy on many kick drums without the eq

My guy, fully grown (at least physically) adults have gone to wars and killed people over "magic". Also, replace "magic" with "musical" or "sauce" in any mix advice you've ever heard/read and it'd still mean the same thing. There has to be better things to do than jumping at the chance to make a garbage joke just because you don't understand a whole lot. Look inward.
