The pistol squat is widely considered the ultimate body-weight leg feat, requiring strength, stability and flexibility.
However, as always with calisthenics, the only limit is your imagination and athletes are constantly looking for new ways to push their strength potential. Enter the dragon pistol squat!
Requiring greater levels of flexibility, strength and stability, the Dragon Pistol Squat is the ultimate bodyweight leg challenge.
Prerequisites
Before getting started on the dragon pistol squat, you must have a strict pistol squat and a shrimp squat under your belt.

Nice, even if you're strong enough to to further theres the mobility and stability side of things that can be quite hard 😅

Maximum Potential Calisthenics yeah I’m starting to figure that out 🤣 that’s why I’m going to probably restart from step 1 until I get better balance

Absolutely great video with awesome progressions. I’ve never thought of attempting to do a leg raise whilst at the bottom of a pistol and will certainly be trying this next workout.

And yeah, the leg raise is a great way to improve the mobility in your deep pistol squat, which is essential for a Dragon Pistol :)

Thanks for the video! Now i can teach my friend how to progress. Im not aure why or how but this and pistol squat i was able to do the first time i ever tried them so i had no idea how to help people learn them

It is taking so long to get my ankles more flexible to the extent that I could manage this.

Ankle flexibility is certainly a big factor for some. Often it can also be other aspects that hold someone back. Many people don't use their arms to counter-balance very well, this can often help a lot (just try to do a squat with your arms behind your back!, much harder)

Very nice and helpful progression! Didn't know about the leg raise thing. Anyway, I would suggest to avoid putting the text over the action, I found it confusing.

Good! Give them a go and use assistance if needed (use a band to hold onto or a pole) just to give them a try if you don't quite have the strength or mobility yet 🙂 oh and a special thank you for the suggestion. I wasn't sure what you meant until I watched it over again. Having that text away from the demonstration would have been much better, I'll remember this.

@@MPCalisthenics totally true! I also loved the aesthetics where you walk forward after doing a move and appear in the next frame for the next move. That small detail gives the real feel of progressing forward!
