I can't state how much respect I have for Stan being part of this from the start, he's been the calming voice over all the chaos that made this series so enjoyable and his editing and videography was perfect. In the same way it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a Stan and also many more people in fact to help Russ run across Africa and make it a world class experience to watch it. I hope he gets a job as a big shot director from this.

Fuck this destroyed me emotionally. If Stan doesn't get major Hollywood-level job offers after this insanely powerful edit, then people have seriously fucked up. The music choice, the pacing, the type of shots, everything was insane. This is up there with THE best Casey Neistat edits, truly unbelievable. Several days after this video was released it's still number 7 on trending in the UK. So well deserved - you FINALLY got the recognition. I've been here watching and sharing the videos since day 1 of the mission. As a geography nerd, to see the landscape and climate change over the course of a year, in real time, from temperate fields to desert to rainforest to desert to temperate fields (completing the narrative cycle) has been like nothing I've ever experienced before. Groundbreaking content the entire way through which never failed to highlight local culture and didn't shy away from the truth or ever stray into political territory. Massive MASSIVE congratulations to Russ, Stan, Jamie, James, Jared, Guus, Harry, and let's not forget the legendary Nessy, a key part of the crew in Namibia, who unfortunately seems to have not made it to Tunisia for the finish. Above all, what has shocked me the most is how that blue minibus Nelly actually crossed Africa thanks to the work of many many mechanics. Nelly has a special place in my heart personally, because you mentioned that it used to be a school minibus and several times I actually went on a minibus almost identical to Nelly on trips when I was in school in London! P.S. Thank you Stan for artfully making the crucial shots of the finish line so respectful, cutting out the vast majority of the political flag waving, which isn't something that will ever result in peace. This choice has not gone unnoticed.

Honestly I don’t know what to do with my life now that this series is over (probably work and sleep like a normal human being again). Finished watching the last episode a couple of days ago after bingewatching the series for like two weeks, and I am honestly very impressed! Man, the tears was falling down like the Niagra falls during the last couples of episodes and during the DOAC-episode, which was jawdropping! It’s been hard to process everything that the team has been through, and they still managed to finish the project. That is mental and totally crazy! Stan, Jamie and the rest of the team did a AMAZING job with the filming and editing, especially with the last episode which was very emotional and moving (I honestly didn’t want it to end, like with the last episode of HIMYM and Friends). Well done Stan! 👏🏻 I’ve been dealing with anxiety for the most part of my life and has been going through a rough period for the last couple of weeks. Both music and this series actually did my mental health better in a way. This series reminded me of that it is possible to overcome and fight back the toxic thoughts that is in your head, even if it for the moment seems impossible. You are the only one who can make a difference for yourself! Russ’ project and discipline has inspired me to start running and doing orienteering again despite my footinjury that occured a couple of months ago, which damaged some of the nerves in my foot. In Sweden we have a yearly thing called ”Hittaut” (In English: ”find outside”) which is an orienteering event with checkpoints in almost every municipality in the country. The checkpoints are only available during a couple of months. My goal is to do atleast two municipalities this year and probably 6 (hopefully 10) municipalities next year. Actually did my first session of orienteering today, eventhough my hay fever almost killed me twice. Despite the dying part, it was a great feeling to be running again! Will probably rewatch the whole series again because of how amazing they all are! Very sad I didn’t find out about this series sooner. Can’t wait for the next adventure! Love from Sweden 🇸🇪💚

This episode in particular might be the best edited thing I've ever seen on KZbin. That slo-mo shot on Russ with the heartbeat was pure cinema. Stan you have absolutely smashed it. Russ, what a story. Inspired thousands (myself inc) to get their heads out of the door and run. To see from Episode 5/6 ish where I first caught you to now has been a crazy, epic journey and I can't thank you and team enough for the hours of entertainment and joy you've brought us. You truly are the Hardest geezer.

This was an amazing journey! I am battling diabetes and have come to realize the ONLY way to beat this is to create an exercise routine I can stick to for life. And walking my dogs doesn’t cut it!!!!I started doing little marathons, 12Ks and hikes. Watching your struggle to complete your self set challenge was truly amazing and inspirational! You all lost so much weight! I can’t imagine how hard this truly was for you all. It is very obvious there were many other challenges you chose not to share! Access to go quality food and water had to be at the top! I can’t wait to hear how you all are doing, even if you do an update a year from now! Warmest wishes!

Broke my leg the week you arrived in South Africa and so started watching while I was in hospital, you've seen me through fellas. Gone from not being able to walk to now slowly being able to call myself a runner (having not been a runner before). I can't tell you how frustrating it was to have had my leg taken away and not be able to join in for the first 6/8 months, but it's made me unbelievably grateful to have made a full recovery and you've inspired me so much, to keep pushing, building and growing, so so grateful to have been able to "tag along" with this mission, you've made my recovery so much easier. Won't be taking these unbelievable bodies we have granted having nearly had it taken away, and you've shown me what's possible. Next stop - marathon!

Okay. Crying here. For those who have not been total followers (and I probably came on late-ish, alerted by Nate from "Kara & Nate" vlog.) So happy to see Jared. And Harry, who IS the specific individual who had a gun pointed into his face. Credit here, please. And yes, we all know Gus is tre tre chic & coolio and tall and good looking and a total hardcore renegade, and was NOT going to stop running challenge until he was falling down & had to have intervention by Jamie. And found all the best swimming holes en route, in Africa. But can we give credit to the Second Hardest Geezer of all? Stan. Stan has been there ALL ALONG. (As far as I have viewed.) Never left on break. Never daunted. Never intrepid. Never stopped. Can't lob a soccer ball to save his life. (Or was it field baseball? I have forgotten.) But that's not the sort of tenacity measured on the Project Africa Mission, is it? Through gun robbery (okay he was in the hotel, fortunately, or more tech would have been robbed) Visa--um, I'm gonna say--conundrums; under plastic tarps beside support-vehicle "Nelly" in 110° mid-day Congolese heat; under the incessant humiliation from the team--and not the utmost respect from our Russell, mind you, Stan's magnificent editing (in addition to Jamie's, later on, I believe) is The Story we see. That's it. That's all we know. THAT is hardcore aesthetic geezer stuff right there. Only suggestion is, I had always wanted updated info on the team in the vlog: names & who left and who came on, and why. That would have been viewer-appreciated. Russ. You are a true hero. Your attitude throughout is EVERYTHING. Your tenacity. Your chill self. Your humility. Your humor. (So damn British!) Your wry, shy smile so wide. It covers everything. "Bang bang!" ♡

Superb achievement chaps. I think those of us who have followed for a long time are just as invested in the incredible project this has been in addition to the feat itself. That said, obviously Russ gets the kudos he deserves, slogging day in day out and he’ll rightly be the one with the plaudits afterwards. Insane amount of times I’ve seen you say ‘bang bang’ or ‘in a biit’ and off he goes on his own for hours, that’s mad. But these KZbin videos have been an incredible insight to the team, the work, the reality, and the continent itself. It’s that part I’ve enjoyed the most and the part that has allowed me to ‘escape’ from reality for 20mins at a time during the past year. Sometimes it was mundane / routine but that was the magic of it. Guus sourcing some fresh bread or doughnuts or having tea with locals. Stan/Jamie having a laugh with some villagers. Nelly needing some TLC. That’s the bit that I loved and that got me invested, and that you portrayed so well on camera. I just hope that you (Stan, Jamie, Guus, Jared, Jimmy and Harry) have a bit of time to chill and relax, that you might see this comment and appreciate what you’ve bought to it all. Well done to all involved, a brilliant team effort and an emotional end that this 40yo dad of two got very teary about ❤ xx
