It’s like they expect you to take the rails off, install everything onto them, and then reinstall the rails onto the helmet
@Hoplopfheil3 жыл бұрын
I think so. You have to use a pencil eraser to keep those circular nuts from spinning freely when you reinstall them. Just another tool to have in your range bag.
@mikekraut76433 жыл бұрын
@@Hoplopfheil they look like nuts used on holsters, many of which have slots cut on them for tightening, but those on the helmet don’t look like they have it. You might be able to swap them out for said ones with the slot however.

Or, there's always the option of super glue. No moving parts, no additional risk. Less space required than a chuck and screwdriver for your range bag. Hell, you might already have it in a bag if youre wise or smart.
@Hoplopfheil3 жыл бұрын
Update: the pencil eraser trick works pretty well to hold the nuts in place for removal and reinstallation. Unfortunately one of the three hex-head screws on the left side rail (the one I wanted to remove to install a rail section) was badly stripped from the factory, so this ended up not being an option anyway. Sweet!
@thatguy_apu3 жыл бұрын
its what MTEK expects too. the difference is that MTEK rails come off without any hassle. Due to the bolt-through-less design of the shell, the bolts that hold the rails just screw into a thread that sticks out of the helmet.

For the mlok issue your having, before you mount anything tighten the accessory till the mlok is tightened all the way then back it off till you can just rotate it with your hand, then line the mlok up and insert. From there once you tighten it it’ll almost 100% of the time line up. It’s hard when they are loose and rotate freely

Making this comment so others realize an additional option they can use. I got the HHV bump, then right after I bought the replacement Opscore style ARC rails and harness from Ballistic Armor Co. It fit fine enough stock, but still kinda sloppy. Once the replacement parts came in and got swapped, it fit 1000x better. Got an amazon G24 and NoiseFighters AX-14 arm, been rocking pretty good honestly. Recently mounted the Opscore AMP arms with the AXL straps for some howard leights and its even better now. This is the first time Ive added everything together for my helmet so, here goes... Not gonna put dollar signs to avoid potentially flagging something in the algorithm Sketchy PVS-14 that works beautifully: 800 Amazon G24: 40 NoiseFighters AX-14: 120?(some kind of release deal) HHV Bump: 180(some kind of first time buyer discount, may need to have honey installed) BAC ARC rails and dial harness: 60 Trex arms battery/bungie NV tie off: 20 Microbat counterweight: 60 Opscore AMP arms with AXL strap combo: 200 Howard Leight earpro: 40 NoiseFighters gel cups: 60(but were a gift from Neal himself years ago) About 1600 in total, which is amazing when talking about a NV set up. I still need the IR aiming device though. And I didnt go the absolute cheapest route.

The HHV ballistic helmet is great. I will admit that MLOK works great on paper, but, there really isn't a lot of "out of the box" MLOK helmet products out there. I just completed the MSA Sordin SARA installation on a pair of MSA Avengers. Not a huge PIA, but, definitely not my favorite way to spend a Saturday night. My MLOK rails haven't been an issue, but, you do need to pay extra attention to the T-nut during install. Like Hop said, you can't visually verify afterward. All in all, the tricky part is getting the helmet configured to your preference(s). Once you've done that, you're golden. I would do it again.

Am I taking crazy pills here? One doesn't need to see behind m-lok to install things. I do the following by feel: 1. Get nuts slightly loose, maybe 1-2 rotations from snug. While pulling back on the accessory just a bit, begin to tighten but only about a half rotation. Repeat on the other screw. After a time or two, the first screw will snug up against the rail and then snug up the second. Then torque each to 20 or so in-lbs or whatever you like. Seriously try this if you haven't. I could probably attach something in the dark since it's just done by feel.

I forgot what it was, but there was an mlok rail different from the rest of mine I was installing a while back. It was where it would effectively lock the T nut into a perpendicular angle if pulled up against the rail segment, and you had to push down to rotate it parallel. Quite literally if the screw was pulled outwards, the T nut would be stuck perpendicular even without the screw tightened, and it'd stay perpendicular throughout tightening. Super neat, and I've only ever seen it once. I'm sure something like that would work great for blind mlok segments.

The problems you're having are not the fault of the design, it's because you're not properly installing the M-LOK nuts. Tighten the nuts on the bolt fully, then place them in the slot. Loosen them until you feel them turn freely, you will feel it very easily. Then turn to the right and it will catch perfectly perpendicular on the rail, continue to tighten then repeat on the other bolts. Now you can remove them and have perfectly spaced nuts. There is no need to visually observe the inside of the rail whatsoever.
