honestly none of those problems are unsolvable. A slightly longer barrel and a handguard would fix basically every issue mentioned and the rest is just a matter of retraining. I was so pissed that the general dynamics bullpup did not win the M5 bid as a bullpup getting a major military contract would finally draw the publics interest into it and get all the minor issues fixed on what is otherwise a superior design to conventional configurations.

i dont mind milspec controls, but a 45 degree throw safety seems like an improvement and probably should be standard. but i would need to install and train with one to have a valid opinion

Ready for this? I bought one at Atlantic Police Supply in Harrisburg PA about five years ago for $70. Yes, $70! It had been a police trade in, (from who?), and they didn't actually know what it was. It works just fine though it took a while to figure it all out.

I'll say it for you. Pat Mac is a better instructor than the guys at Thunder Ranch. I am sure they are great at what they do, but nothing any of them will ever do will equate to being a member of Delta and then being the lead instructor for Delta Force.

I first saw this pistol in Antoine Fuqua's directorial debut: The Replacement Killers. John Lee (portrayed by Hong Kong action star Chow Yun Fat) takes it off a thug and uses it in spectacular fashion alongside Meg Coburn (Mira Sorvino) and her Browning Hi-Power. I have recently purchased a V1 USP at my local shop. Look forward to trying this out.

I had a SWAT team element leader instructor tell me one time: the idea of keeping the finger off the trigger and manipulating the safety each time is, in a critical situation, a waste of time and effort. He wanted is to have our fingers on the trigger and safety off at all times if we weren't letting it hang. Also wasn't a huge fan of that approach. Too likely to let one go that shouldn't if startled when you don't take the time to think about what you're targeting. That's fine when you're going to treat all targets as hostile I suppose.

Okay, wait. So, you can still take you scope off if it doesn't have a quick mount? The first sights on all your rifles should be irons if it's considered a rifle that could end up being your only rifle.

1. Putting the saftey on during reloads is…a bit much. 2. You definitely need back up sights on a gp rifle. Come on. Screws come loose, mud gets on aperture, mounts break, sights are adjusted too low, etc. This is just contrarianism. 4. Ambi…whatever, just keep the right lever short so it doesn’t hit my finger. This is definitely an extra.

Most complaints about bullpups are very minor. So strange that a gun nation does not embrace the benefits of it more then these minor gripes. Wonder if it's just the aesthetics. Less sexy then an AR or AK.

Can't you just put in a spacer to get the optic a bit higher so you can up it where you need it? Fairly certain that's common.

i agree with keeping the safety on. another point about it is that keeping the safety off until ready to fire trains you for an unexpected situation where you need to immediately engage as soon as your rifle comes up. If you train as if your safety is already off then in a very high stress situation you may miss taking the safety off in your process
