I've been wanting this interview to happen for a few years now. After I had heard both of your stories and how you both changed your life for the better and now live a free life and your about helping those who need help or just a quick word. For over 20 years I just used drugs and alcohol rather than dealing with anything or looking for answers because that's what everyone did around me.. there came a time when I realized that being messed up wasn't going to fix anything and the internal issues were going to be there until I dealt with them sober. I still struggle with doing the same reactions without thought like I did most of my life. Having kids really helped me to understand how important it is to be a great person and parent and not allow people around who don't have their crap together. I've got a teenage son who looks like me and reminds me of myself and as I watch him become a young man it's awesome to see how much happier and pleasing my life could have been if only my parents and the others around would have given just a little of their time making sure that I turned out better than they ever imagined.. the world needs people like mitch and Matt to tell their story and encourage positive changes in others life!!!

You guys are correct about seeing counselors and therapists etc who's only knowledgeable because they've read about it never cause they've been there or done that. That's what makes your stories so valuable especially in today's world where we have kids who are already starting down the wrong path and you've got guys in the 50s who are tired of living that way and looking for someone who has been there and can give them some positive advice and feedback. I wouldn't be 3 years sober if it wasn't for coming across Mitchs story and it sparked something in me.. he's the type of person who I looked up to as a youth and he's one of the few who are sober and alive. The guys who I did look up to in my life are either dead or still partying and you're not going to get advice from either one about sobriety and positive changes.

The hardest phonecall I ever made was to my mother from county jail. I had just been convicted of 2 armed robberies. I was 20yrs old. Never been in trouble in my life. No YA no jail knowledge whatsoever. I didn't get to a cell or tank until early morning like 1am. I was put into a 60 man tank in Orange County jail. F27 I believe. it was dark most people were sleeping. I didn't know to go left or right or anything. I went left. Ended up in the sureno area. In the morning the older ese informed me I had to move. Then some one called out "wood". and I don't know how I knew but I knew he was referring to me. And I was told where to put my mat down. I went to the phones and made my call shortly after that. My mother was crying like baby when she picked up. I have never fought back tears like that in my life. Inmates all around I knew tears and sobbing was not a good look. So I managed to hold it in. I told her it wasn't her fault, and that she didn't do anything wrong. I spent almost two months in county before I was sentenced. I went to sentencing on Dec. 17th 1999. They gave me 12 years first time ever in trouble. All I could do was laugh. My mother did not cry about my 12 years. I did reception at Wasco and stayed on the 3 yard when it wa time tone shipped out. So I never transpacted. My parents came almost every weekend to visit me. 3 hours each way. So when they say your family is doing the time with you it's absolutely true. I did not serve all 12 years. I am one of the lucky few who won their appeal and had their chance to go home early. I have never been arrested since being released from jail/prison. I have been a tax paying civilian since 2001. When people find out I did time they are shocked not many believe it. But I still have my night yard ID card for proof. LOL!

Awesome Interview once again Mitch. Yep Matty lived a fascinated life. Mine was fairly similar but grew up around the Green guys. But I grew up damn nearcthe same way. Luckily my stint was MUCH smaller than either one of you guys, but the content really hits home Bros. Thanks Again!!!!

Much respect matty boy, i can relate bro I'm a MC from SFV los angeles called braveheart ... trip on this my 1st term I was up at the Bay around 2006 "A" yard gym And one of the black dudes was beaten on the desks next to us so I started spitting some shit to the fellas not knowing any better And one of your homeboys from FAIM older cat solid dude but I won't say his name and put him on blast but he got hella mad about it made it an issue lol I actually put that incident in one of my songs So I can relate when you talk about some of the fellas disagreeing with the music...it is what it is Maybe we can talk I can tell you who it was maybe even do some music keep doing what your doing man keep grinding 💯🍀

Good morning mitch! How's the bike running? Did they have any sort of programs in prison where you could be around motorcycles? I ran into an old club guy in a 1% club one time and he had pictures of him with a bike they had in prison. Said they had bike shows and shit.
