I have two PB1000 Pro's and wanted a 3rd in the back. Still, they raised the price by $300, so I went with the THX 10". I really wanted the 12," but this was a 3rd sub just for the back and wanted to stay under $600, so got the 10". I figured the two 1000 Pro's already could do more than I needed in terms of output, so if the 10 did not work out I would just return it. Man was I surprised of the output of this 10" THX. The thing is a beast! I can only imagine what that 13" sounded like.

How would a regular ported sub compare to something like M&K X12+ or the Perlisten subs? The reason I ask is the price is less than half. Would the bass be tighter coming from the higher end subs, or is it purely a matter of placement and EQ?

@@ErinsAudioCorner okay. I have my custom nsv318 in my car now with an 8kw amplifier. I was planning to use it as my end game home theatre sub when I can get a house without neighbors. The coils are dual 0,7ohm, meant to be wired in parallel to a nominal 2 ohm load. Can you recommend some amplifier to drive this sub? @macattack123mattc3
@macattack123mattc3 2 жыл бұрын
@@woldemortxyz7996 FYI: 8kw = 8000w; 8000w / 220v = about 36 amps. If you want to be able to continuously supply 8kw to that sub, you'll need a ridiculously beefy circuit. Of course, the amp will probably only pull 2-4kw under load, so you'll probably be fine with something like a dryer circuit, but still, make sure you won't be blowing breakers!

Before your testing, based on other reviews and feedback from the users, I was certain that SVS makes the best subwoofers at this price range. Now I see Monolith is objectively better. One more confirmation that one should stick to buying products that have been thoroughly reviewed and compared to the competitors. There are a lot of products on the market that haven't been tested objectively, steer clear of them. They might be good, but they might be a dud just as well.

If you ever run out of speakers to review, would you consider reviewing some DIY kits? There is literally no reviews about DIY kits, so buying a kit is an act of faith, faith based solely on the product description and maybe a forum post. That makes it hard to know what kits are a good value, or what designers produce the best designs. (I know people avoid doing reviews of kits out of fear that people will do a bad job building a kit, which is kind of silly....)

13 inch is more powerfull than the 15 everywhere, something is wrong with your measurments.

Well, let's approach this logically... when you say "everywhere" you mean "Audioholics". Who I did mention in this review twice. Monoprice's numbers come from Audioholics. No one else has provided CEA-2010 data for either/both of these subwoofers that I am aware of. So, yes, mine and James' numbers are different. I know how mine was tested and both the 15 and the 13-inch I tested were tested under the same conditions (temp, humidity, microphone calibration, system software, etc). So, naturally I trust my numbers. But I don't think James would mess something up on purpose, either. So, we are at a stalemate. I'm not tore up about it, though. This is one issue with CEA-2010 comparisons from different parties. James would probably tell you the same. Luckily you have both of our data sets to pull from.

Immediately, this screams SVS PB13 Ultra* knockoff to me....which is fine really. Solid offering, it'll move a lot if air. Oftentimes, vented sub like this would be recommended for high volume rooms... when Vessel Gain is minimal. Interestingly, these long stroke platforms are often best supplemented with a mid-bass, for increased texture and apparent speed. A typical arc an enthusiast (myself) experiences is this; You employ massive amounts of stroke, pursuing single digit extension... check. I built a quad 18" attic IB (30mm Xmax), in addition to two separate double 15" sealed subs. ~3500 cube family room w/open kitchen behind the listening area. Subs; 4x18", 4x15" My mains have dual 12"s as well. All that high quality stroke can be subjectively bested by simply adding "pro" midbass units. Yes, implementation is key, proper blending summation is vital. My supposition includes inductance effects, impedance peaks (whereby essentially ALL current is used for stroke), instantaneous compression effects magnetic and thermal... also idealized restoring force/tighter suspension. And of course force factor BL(x) curve. These big air pump, long stroke drivers can struggle to adequately resolve mid and upper bass... they're "lossy". It's a tall task to wobble the room at 10hz, and resolve kick drum punch and bass texture 60hz-80hz. *(SVS PB13 Ultra was a longstanding benchmark for vented subs, and low bass reproduction. Forum OG Ilkka Rissanen was the first DIY enthusiast/forum member, to establish Apples to Apples outdoor subwoofer measuring. Now a senior acoustic engineer at Genelec. His measurements proved why the PB13 Ultra was so successful) We're lucky to have Monoprice Monolith products... they're robust, high performance and high value.

To be honest, im here for the no nonsense, measurements based reviews. You do you, but could you please timestamp the videos so i can quickly skip the skits? Also... thank you for the work you put in, and the information you put out.

Nah, I'm not gonna timestamp stuff. TBH, I've got a dayjob and a lot of other things going on in my daily life for me to timestamp my videos. I get if you don't wanna watch it. But you also have to understand that I'm gonna do what I need to do to keep myself from going insane and to keep this hobby a fun, light one. A few seconds up front isn't the end of the world. I hope you can tough it out and learn to enjoy it. But if you don't, then I understand you'll need to move on to someone who provides exactly what you're looking for. No hard feelings from my side. Take care.

Nah, I'm staying. Your content is good, and much more valuable than pure subjective reviews. Do what you have to do to keep you sane. Cheers.
