Valve Cover Gaskets, Spark Plugs, Ignition Wires and more - Lexus ES300 Redo Project-Stage 3

This video is a Stage 3 continuation of a Lexus ES300 redo project. The prior stage 3 items involved removal and replacement of the radiator and its upper and lower hoses. Since the alternator gave out after we replaced the timing belt, we replaced that as well (under the previous owner's Autozone warranty). The items to be replaced or serviced in this video are: 1. Throttle body removal and cleaning. 2. Left and right valve cover gasket replacement. 3. Spark plug replacement 4. Firewall side oxygen sensor replacement 5. Ignition wire replacement 6. Air filter replacement.
Since the ES 300 engine ( 1MZFE) is shared with other Toyota vehicles, the service being performed on this vehicle can be duplicated on the V6 Camy, Avalon, Solara and other Toyota vehicles as well.

1997. Before Toyota introduced VVT-i technology. With VVT-i the EGR gases were no longer directed to the intake, the engine was now interference and came with dual throttle bodies.

Brake cleaner to clean throttle body? Ummm, I don't think so! Very bad thing to do. That's an electronic TB, it must be treated gently. Cleaned, yes! The carb cleaner is ok, but NOT brake fluid!

Thanks for making this video. I was able to replace the valve cover gaskets with this fairly thorough walk through. Thanks . I was able to pick up what tools worked best and my 1998 Lexus ES 300 purrs. Even with 209,000 miles. The only things I did different as far as clips, hoses, vacumn lines etc. Was I had to label everything ,so I used colored electrical tape. Took a little longer but kept me from forgetting anything. Plus a vacumn line with a piece of red tape is easy to see compared to black hose which blends in. I couldn't have done it as easily without this video. Thanks again

Superb job! I’ll be doing this on my 94 ES300 soon. Recently started leaking oil and traced it to the rear valve cover. While I’m in there, I’ll be replacing the PCV also.

Morning and Hny. Love your videos. Im a big fan of 90's toyotas and the 99 thru 03 acura tl's without trans problems. I picked up a 93 Camry for my nephew, a 02 Tl type S for me and my most recent purchase is a 99 avalon. My avalon needs all the same engine work as your es300 and im waiting for parts. Your videos are super helpful and really boost my confidence to tackle this job. Im also going to replace the knock sensors, harness bypass hose and o2 sensor while im in there. Too cold now but will start when the weather breaks. Thks again

Thank you for posting, I did my son's es300 and it wasn't that bad, you made it so much easier. That back plenum bracket bolt and ac line bolt were knuckle skin shavers. My knuckles look like I've a member of fight club.
