Engine Bay Cleaning - Lexus ES300 Redo Project - Stage 2

In the second stage of the ES300 redo project, we cleaned out the engine bay / compartment. Since both the radiator and alternator were going to be replaced, we removed them before the pressure wash to get to the nooks and cranny's. We also removed the front wheels to clean the side engine and transmission areas as well as removed the battery to clean away any acid residue.
We used a water based engine cleaning spray solvent to soak the built up grease and oil. After soaking, a portable pressure wash machine attached to a garden hose was used to pressure wash off the solvent soaked areas.
After the engine bay was dry, we used a quart size bottle of Tire Shine that I bought at Dollar Tree for $1 to spray on all rubber and plastic components. The Tire Shine product works just like the expensive 303 Aerospace Protectant but at a fraction of the cost.

Oh man watching you clean this car makes me more enthusiasts to do mine as well, I am planning to clean and renew alot of my car's parts, and my car is messier than the one in thie video with alot of sludge accumulated 430K miles, I will clean it with degreaser then I will use a steam machine, and I am gonna use silicone spray on plastics and wires then add some kind of protective films as well, so i guess it will worth the try for sure, thanks for the great video sir👌😊

My friend i have the same car your videos are a godsend it’s my first car and i am having a great deal of fun and frustration learning how to do all the maintenance myself. I was curious as to what you do to dry the vehicle after, how much pressure in psi for the washer and how do you avoid rust, thank you i eagerly await your response

I just picked one up with 204k miles on, same color as yours ;-) I must ask, cleaning out the throttle body got rid of the IAC code (p0505) and helped when stepping on the gas but I only cleaned one of them well before installing the new intake hoses. (Now it's hard to step on the gas again so I have to clean the other one) but I have a p0420 code for bank 1 - catalyst efficiency below threshold. I don't see any leaks but I do hear a high pitched noise. What do you think could be the problem? The Trac Off light is also on and I can't turn it off. I want to rule everything out before having to replace the catalyst

Hi, I have a 2001 Lexus es300 with knocking engine. I really liked the detailed work performed on this video and other videos related to the same car. I have a problem with es300. The engine is loud knocking with a blue smoke and the mechanic said that I need a new engine. It has 140000 miles and I wish that you guys can help me out. A used engine is expensive and the labor is high. Located in northern Virginia. Help please. Do you think it is worth to change the main bearing/ piston ( rebuild the same engine, or go with another one ???? Thank you so much

I have a 2000 ES300 that has a misfire. High RPMs at cold start and has laggy acceleration and power loss. Evap codes are P0440 and P0441. Any ideas? (thinking it's a bad catalytic converter but not exactly sure)
