Yup. The road salts in the North East rusts up everything.

Hey, you do this for living? I recently did both the front struts, inner tire rods, lower control arm, sway bar links, bushings, and a few other parts by myself and my friend. Took us nearly 5 hours and we had all the tools available to us. And no, we not mechanics, just some weekend do it yourself warriors I suppose.
@hardlymovingpro26 күн бұрын
Good for you doing it yourself! 5 hours isn't bad considering you're not mechanics ... you don't have to be. Yes ... I do this for a living.

Thank you very much. I have a question, do I really need to take the break rotor out for the front strut replacement ? I have the problem to take the one screw out. Thank you again
@hardlymovingpro21 күн бұрын
You don't but you'll need to place a hydraulic jack under the steering knuckle to lift what will be a heavy control arm, steering knuckle and brake rotor combination in order to slide the knuckle hole into the new strut.

@@hardlymovingpro thank you Sir, I was able to took the one screw out so the disc out now. Now my problem is I can't not take the axle out , it is soo tight, I hammered like crazy but it didn't come out . Is there any tools or other tricks you advertise me? I am working on a 2016 Honda pilot. Thank you very much sir
@hardlymovingpro21 күн бұрын
Spray with penetrating oil and let soak for 24 hours. The oil should creep to the rust areas. Also try to spray behind the shaft where it slides into the steering knuckle.

Do I have to remove the strut and knuckle like you did to change just the front wheel bearings?
@hardlymovingproАй бұрын
You'll have to disconnect the hub from the lower control arm in order to slide the cv axle out of the hub. Watch this video to replace wheel bearings on FWD vehicles: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4q7q5-tpaaVmrM

Is this the same for the 2019 Honda pilot?? My brother wants me to do his. I work on Mazda cx-5 that’s what I have and seems much simpler then Honda.

Yes ... the same for the 2019 Pilot. Mazda's suspension is a different suspension design.

@@hardlymovingprojust wanted to say thank you for this helpful video, I just did my brother two front struts. Yes, it’s totally different from mazda cx-5. But I’m happy his car is riding better now for his wife.

@@hardlymovingproalso, can you help me with this question. My brother told me his battery for the pilot keeps dying all the time and he has to always jump it. Is there a way I can reset the battery code so it doesn’t drain anymore. I know bmw and Mercedes does this but I dont know if Hondas do the same to reset it after installing a new battery. He said this happened ever since he changed to a new battery.

What brand of strut assembly did you use? I have a 2017 Ridgeline and although the struts haven't failed, they are both seeping oil at 86k miles. The only strut assemblies I can find are a brand called FCS on Rockauto but I have no idea if they are any good.
@hardlymovingpro6 ай бұрын
Been using FCS for years on many vehicles. Excellent struts with lifetime warranty.
@map74636 ай бұрын
@@hardlymovingpro Thanks for the feedback. I am surprised how low they are priced considering it is the assembly with spring and bearing already installed. I will give them a try when the seepage gets worse. Thanks.

Hello, I have a 2019 Acura MDX that has a bad passenger shock absorber, when I change it do I have to align the steering? thank you
@hardlymovingpro6 ай бұрын
As long as the steering wheel stays straight and the there's no pull to the left or right when driving, an alignment won't be necessary.

FCS brand is excellent. Noticeable improvement in ride quality. Have been installing and using them for years. They come with a lifetime warranty. Never had to file a claim.

Which way does the arrow point on the strut mount. Does it matter. I have an arrow on mine
@hardlymovingpro6 ай бұрын
You should use the arrow mark on the original strut mount to determine orientation before replacement with the new one.

Be careful when putting cv axel on inner side of bearing there is a magnetic strip that can easily be damaged and will interfere with abs speed sensor which will make hub replacement the only option be careful
@hardlymovingpro9 ай бұрын
On Honda's and Acura's the outer wheel bearing race, which is pressed fitted into the steering knuckle, is magnetized. Never heard about a "magnetic strip"?

quick strut? Never! The strut, springs, strut mount and other part are very cheap
@hardlymovingpro6 ай бұрын
Depends on the brand. Never had problems with KYB, Sachs, Monroe and Gabriel to name a few. Been using a brand sold by rockauto.com called FCS. Started using them around 4 years ago and been holding up very well. They come with a lifetime original owner warranty. Never had to make a claim. I got tired transferring spring seats, bellows, bumpers and upper mounts only for one or more of these parts failing due to wear. Also buying all these parts as a replacement amounts to the same cost as a complete/quick strut.
