The hardtop makes a HUGE difference on the Miata! I had them on both of my old NA's and it made them more rigid... the best application is with the NA6 which happens to have the 6 links to attach the roof to the cabin. The NA8, NB1 and NB2 only have the 4 links, but still makes a HUGE difference. It looks amazing, more space in the interior, and the cabin noise is reduced.

The NA8, NB's only have the two Frankenstein on the back and the two receivers on the top of the windshield frame... the side lashes are only available on the na6. I owned one 1989 and 1996. A bunch of my friends own NB's and the dont have it either!

Oz atCAMS wrong. They all have the 6 points. If the car didn't come with a hardtop then the side latches don't come with the car. I have an nb with a hardtop. Do a Google search

@@tonyguo4600 its actually worse on my car. When going around 160km/h (~100mph), my hardtop also starts to whistle loudly for some reason lol. I like the soft top more ;)

Thank you! Have wanted a Miata for years but not keen on soft top as I live under the Redwoods and limbs and spear down and damage top or worse spear into people in car. Currently have a nice Acura but want to turn over to my husband and I get the Miata! We’ll see. Have to see what trunk storage is, not to mention test drive. Peace! ✌️

This settles it for me, man. I just bought a hardtop after i spent $1200 ish on a new soft top with installation a year ago. You're right, the advantages of the soft top way outweigh the soft top. I always told myself that the only advantage to a soft top is the ability to flip the top down at a moments notice...but honestly whats a few minutes of uninstalling the hardtop then putting it back on? I'll sell my year old mint canvas top top make some money back from the purchase of the hardtop.

I have the hardtop. It's not making the car any stiffer as far as I can tell. Engine/ outside noise is quieter, the wind noise on the other hand is louder, especially when going 60mph or faster. The hardtop also also creaks and squeaks when driving on bad roads. I like the car a lot more without the hardtop, I only put it on to preserve my softtop in the winter.

The correct answer is both. You want a quality cloth soft top and an OEM hardtop.

@@viriot9574 When it is wet and cold, use the hardtop. When it gets sunny and warm, take the hardtop off. It is a simple process, especially if you have help and a garage.

Depends on the seller, if he has one he may give/sell it to you Every NB has a soft top so no worries. You just have to buy a hardtop if you want one and the previous owner didnt have one or did not want to sell it for some reason.

hard top sits on top of the car, either with the soft top folded down or taken out if you wish. Basically both can be on the car at the same time.

Correct, you could have both on your car, soft top folded away while the hard top sits over it. He chose to take it out

I have both...Its NOT an either or...If it breaks ones heart not having a soft top, GET one too. Yes you are running a little heavy when you have both on, but if you love the rag top...You have that option there.

I have both too. Just one tip from the guy who made my new softtop: if you want to have the hardtop on for a longer time, take the softtop off completely and store it somewhere dry and unfolded. Otherwise the constant rubbing of the folded softtop while driving could damage the softtop
