@@sammy10001 Ok, then please explain. Because what I see is a very large air intake for the fans and a very small outlet for that air once it has been drawn through the heat sinks. That would result in a reduction in airflow over the heat sinks along with an increase in pressure within the card's case both of which would decrease cooling effectiveness. It would also result in a higher airflow rate through the outlet which could also contribute to the noisiness of the card. If that's wrong, please explain how it's wrong.

the fin density is a lot lower than your typical card so in low load or no load situations it does better to remain in idle mode than other cards. also we really are reaching the limits of what heat pipes can carry so more slot space won't do much.

Thanks for the review, Steve! Surprised to see your results with this card, as this is not my experience at all. Card runs @60-62C in Warzone and Cold War and maintains 2010-2085mhz out of the box with the F4 bios with minimal noise from the fans so I never bothered oc'ing anything and all this in a Lian Li Mini. My friend bought the same card and has similar results. Maybe we were lucky, what can I say?

You were lucky. The difference in quality between samples can be pretty big. My Asus tuf 3090 oc reaches 70 degrees stock while someone else's reaches only 63 degrees and my case has actually very good air flow.

Fan thickness seems standard. For a 4 slot card, more compromise should have went to blade width. More air pressure is needed for something that thick.

For the 6800xt, I wanted the Red Devil but the Aorus Master is beautiful so there's no regrets coming from a rx570/gtx670. Main problem rn is my ryzen 1700x cpu bottlenecking pretty hard in games. Gonna save up for a 5900x later in the year.

Ur OC clocks are very low. My stock clocks on average stays 2040mhz which is ur OC clocks. .. There was a firmware update for middle fan curve.. Have you installed that? Also your card is running pretty high. Mine does not even cross 63-64c on stock clocks with fans peeking at 75% in a ambient room temp of 24C(as its now summers banging on the door). Also, when I got my card, i saw the high temps too and compared them to strix, seems bit high. But i found out some screws on the back were a bit loose so i tightened them and all is great. Memory peals around 80c for memory..

I got offered a TUF OC 3080 for 993€ on release day since I was on a local shop's mailing/wait list. Seemed expensive at the time so I passed. Little did I know. They haven't had the TUF in stock for months anymore, but they have a Gigabyte Gaming OC card for almost 1200€. Insane. Frankly, this card would probably go for like 1400€ or something, and being a big, bulky, noisy hot brick outweighs the 5% OC benefit IMO. If the TUF Gaming was actually priced at the MSRP (on any continent), it would probably be the best variant still.

Smaller card, two 8-pins, uses less power, runs cooler, performs better.

I mean, it is faster. Just a few %, but thats what you would expect honestly. If you dont care about noise at all (maybe because you wear headphones) and have 100€ extra to spend (assuming this and cheaper cards were avaliable LOL ) its not a terrible product. Then if you factor in that EVERY 3080 is beeing sold for at the minimum like 1100-1200€ right now in Germany and this one is like 1200€, you could say that this is like 4% extra performance for 8% extra money, which would be reasonable. Of course the price isnt reasonable to begin with but thats how things are and i wouldnt expect to see sub 1000€ 3080s anytime soon. Your region might be different.

I accidentally got the Master variant from Newegg on eBay It almost broke my PCIe slot, I had to use my 1660 Ti to stabilize it These things SUCK DOWN way too much power, i had to undervolt/underclock it

Yeh it doesnt make any sense I have a 3080 gaming oc and its nearly 200$ less expensive and performs within 10% of it but much much cooler and quieter, given the size of the heatsink and fans it should wipe the floor with any card

For sure. Gigabyte's products, specially VGA is garbage base in my experience with them. Their top-tier SKU always look and perform like some cheap/cost-effective from other AIBs. ASUS stuff maybe overprice but in some case, I think extras money is justify by quality of them. But Gigabyte, it simple isn't.

I have this.. Beast bro, beast.. But your temps are pretty high. Try tightening the back screws. Mine were bit loose and my doesn't cross temps above 60-61C max with manual fan tuning where at 60+, all fans ramps to 75%.. My ambient temps right now is 15C.

I'm pretty sure it's less "what choice you want to make right now" and moreso meant for when supply/demand is normalized in the future. A review that isn't biased by circumstance so that the video isn't dated and people two or three years from now can still be informed.

You should searously consider the overclock section consist of a undervolt & overclock combo since that's been the go to method for getting the true max overclock on nvidia cards since pascal.

MSRP of $930 will turn into $1200. In the UK the RTX 3060 (MSRP from $329) are already listed starting at £450. It's a matter of what you're willing to pay currently if a GPU is required.

Steve: You should try a slight undervolt. I run mine at 925mV using Afterburner and I put it at 1995MHz, and it runs much more quiet and basically a dead stable frequency.

I guess it makes sense to fit a cooler, which matches with the power limit it ships with. Its largely going to depend on silicon quality though if you are actually going to get significant returns for pushing that extra power through the card. I am really getting the feeling that having luck of the draw with silicon is a much more substantial difference than the design differences of the cards. How the v/f curve is laid out also has a lot more impact, than just pushing further to the right of that curve. For instance, my Inno3D card has a power limit of 'just' 330 watts, and will not push beyond it so I can't overclock. However, if I have good silicon I can still push quite high frequencies at lower voltages, which might even beat another much more expensive card in which you need more voltage for the same frequency. I really liked the Aorus 5700XT I had, and therefore kind of wished to get one again with the 3080, but the price difference can just not be justified at all..

undervolting is still where it is at. I am stable on my msi trio 3080 pulling 240 watts at 1900 gpu clock. Fans barely run and it stays cool.

I got the Aorus Master model which is 70 bux less than the extreme. Only reason i went for it was there wasn't any stock on anything else. These cards are very well made and you are paying 150-200 more for the quality and LCD bling. Worth it? Its subjective but id say it is since your paying for eye candy and Im fanboy of that.

It has a 2 slot cover because they expect some will water cool it. I agree they should have a 4 slot cover on it but they should also do the same as EVGA does and include a single slot cover in the box for water-cooling users.

At least it has 3 HDMI and 3 DP ports. I think about buying LG CX, to use for movies / sometimes as 2nd monitor, maybe even gaming, but also I have AV Receiver connected to PC thru HDMI (but it's older gen Denon, so no HDMI 2.1)... Luckily I had Club3D displayport 1.2 -> hdmi 2.0 adapter, used that for AV Receiver. Sound works, and now I have HDMI available.

I can get an EVGA 3080 XC3 Ultra to 2070Mhz stable under 60° with 65% fans. And it takes up half the space. Not to mention it looks better IMO. And thats at less power consumption too. If your persistent you can get one. Took me 2 months of trying, but Best Buy worked in the end.

I was trying to get an Aorus RTX 3080 Xtreme Waterforce (AIO or WB), but after weeks of "camping" Newegg, I was only able to get the Aorus RTX 3090 Xtreme Waterforce (WB, so I built a custom loop for it) for $2000... Also, pretty sure I only got it because it was a new product launch on 1/13 so the bots didn't have it locked down yet. Kinda feels like I scalped myself, but yeah, guess I still got the 4 year warranty. Also, 2080 Ti's still sell for a lot on ebay, so at least I got almost half of it back on that.

I'm a little confused. I have a vision 3080 with a locked power Target a + 100 megahertz on the offset and runs consistently 2085 megahertz with 100% fan at 63-65c.

I bought this card as it was the first card from a "name" brand I could find that wasn't at scalper prices. Performs quite well. Not really great value, but at retail was still cheaper than anything else I could find due to crazy scalper pricing. Plus better than shelling out the extra for a 3090 here in Australia 👍

You forgot the Gigabyte RTX 3080 Vision OC, a white beauty with the same performance than the Gigabyte Gaming OC and a superb design. I got one and it's really perfect. The price ($870) is a little bit higher than Gaming OC ($840) but if you are looking for an all-white setup it is worth.
