@ExalyThor Trash GPU? I thought in today's age there were no bad products, only bad prices (Vega was too expensive at launch but then it mined well so go figure), and so on that front all current GPUs are bad :) I bet if AMD sold new Vega64 GPUs right now, at their original MSRP, they would be sold out in minutes regardless.

@ExalyThor I don't think that it's the miners to blame for the problem, sorry to say it AMD that carry the biggest part of the problem. You can't remember get ( nearly impossible) an amd card in Denmark, even the rx570 cost over 500$ in a store. They stop producing there old series, and could not deliver enough of the new ones, it's plan and simple.

I can't speak for the entire viewership Steve - but I feel like the majority of us have no problems with you & Tim reviewing items regardless of availability issues. I only say this because I know there is a vocal minority crying out about their dislike of reviewers reviewing GPUs which are constantly out of stock. We, the consumers, are put in the best purchasing position possible by becoming well-informed. Content such as your detailed reviews goes a long, long way to help us achieve the goal of being informed. Keep 'em coming Steve.

Thanks for the review, the Red Dragon is indeed the version of the 6800 that I'm interested in so its nice to see that Powercolor build a card thats not only considerably more efficient then the reference card but also faster. Altogether I'm happy with the purchase as I felt I needed to do it, though I wish I could've waited until the prices came down to msrp. I am also getting super low power usage, with low temperatures to boot. Can keep it super quiet with the fan curve, although blasting the fans up too max you definitely hear them. I also didn’t know much about this card so I came here to see what it’s all about before I open it. Sounds like a good card, but not at the price I paid. I replaced my last GPU because it was too loud. The current one is much quieter, but I can still hear it when it is running full out on computation tasks. This is an option for replacement in the current generation.

It is being sold for 1800$ (VAT included) in Hungary! So, I would be very happy to purchase it anywhere below 1,000$ :D

as a gamer i snatched my gpu in the last mining boom 2 years ago at a high price.... so i started mining with it to recover some money, i can happily say i returned 50% of the investment when i take into consideration how much power i spent (even before this huge jump) so im not that sad i bought my gpu at an overpriced mark, you just gotta do the best with what you have, cheers

Love Hardware unavailable series, it's so much better than the Hardware available series... says no one ever!

It hurts to say, but maybe the GPU manufacturers and designers like the scarcity of their products. The will eventually starve us to the point we're happy to hand out that 2k after a kiss on their ring. New age aristocracy, let's go! AYAYA

Looks like a superb card for those not interested in overclocking. But yes, Hardware Unavailable. Which the captions get right, by the way.

Nice review. Convince me to pull the trigger and get this card. Its 520 euro (+ starfield for free) right now. So not too bad I'd say. Especially since nvidia equivalents are like 100 euro+ more.

I picked one up for $1129 NZD in New Zealand before they went out of stock.

After giving up on getting a new graphics card this year, I stumbled across one of these at PC Case Gear for AUD1,099 (about USD750 before tax). Whilst it looks pretty steep compared to actual MSRP, it felt like better value than anything in the AUD1,500+ range (I'm looking at you 3080). I got it for the quiet mode (having my computer in the lounge room and an otherwise silent PC), but even in the standard OC mode, it's whisper quiet. Even when pushed to its limits, there's no fan noise to speak of. Great card, runs perfect with a 5600x. For those not sold on ray tracing just yet (I'm coming from a 2060), and if you ever accidentally find one when the stars and planets have aligned, it's highly recommended.

it doesn't stop you from removing the backplate plastic and applying thermal pads to the card yourself. It's what I did with the 5700 xt and it worked great.

Apart from the fact that it would void your warranty entirely, sure. Also they'd need to be so thick it wouldn't be worth it.

I don't get this. At TechPowerup this card uses way more energy than the original 6800, and here it uses less? How? Why?
